DON"T DO IT. All it does is start the opening of the rabbit hole.
Yep. But, it's just another rabbit hole. LOL.

+ 1 on that...mine really likes the Berger 80s also...they are long enough to jam which works well in this barrelView attachment 1174214 Don't forget to try the 80 berger varmint. In my 8 twist krieger nothing beats them inside 200 yards. I wish i would have tried them first instead of the 105's. This is 5 shots at 200 yards with a spent cci 450 below the group.
That's no problem just let me know what recoil lug I can make one up all you have do is set the headspace.I appreciate all the input.
Stan Taylor, I’m not really crazy about how the barrel nut setup looks. It was just a thought, but I would rather have a shouldered barrel.
So...
6br Norma, 24” med palma, 7.5 twist? Just to be versatile? No neck turn chamber
The only stock I know of that is readily available for the 600 is a Boyd’s. I could go with their Pro Varmint model.
I already have an aluminum trigger guard/floorplate for it. I just need to replace the action screws with torx head screws I hate the slotted ones.
I like the trigger that’s in it - it breaks clean.
Personally I would not lengthen the free bore. It will handle the 107 SMK fine as is and won't be too long to reach the lands with some lighter bullets if you want to try them. Just my thoughts.I've got my first 6br coming from a member here as well. It's got a .093" free bore I'm thinking of lengthening to minimum .130" maybe as much as .150". I plan on shooting 107smk mainly. It is an 8t barrel.
This thread is a good one for those of us who are working our way down to the 6br.

I have a new .104fb 6BR barrel. I shoot Berger 108s with this free bore.
For reference, here's what the 107smk looks like at 'touch' relative to 6BR neck with my barrel (excuse the slight off angle pic)...
YMMV

Looking at your pics again, is one of these at touching lands (labeled .104+.046") which is loaded longer than the other (labeled .104")? I guess I'm not getting your labeling on the pics, or they seem backwards to me.
Both 68 and 80 FB Bergers shoot great! Here is pic at 200 yds shot yesterday morning with 5-6 mph 7-8 oclock head/crosswind with 12tw Kreiger 24 inch benchrest rifle. Also shoots good at 300 yards. Also have 8tw and 10tw that shoot 90 and 95 Berger at .25 moa. I have had better accuracy with light bullets in 6BR than the heavies! These are not one group either. I have these results across 30-40 groups with each rifle during past 6-7 years!View attachment 1174214 Don't forget to try the 80 berger varmint. Think a little about reloading tools for the 6BR, spend a little or a lot. You can do a lot with a little neck turning and standard diesHello all,
I've never shot or owned a 6br, but I'd like to try one.
Is there a difference in the 6br Remington and 6br Norma? Hogdgon lists the 6br Remington in their reloading data center.
I have a Remington model 600 that I would like to rebarrel to 6br.
Right now it has an aftermarket 20" .243 barrel on it, so it's not factory original. I got the rifle second hand many years ago.
I have a little over 400 Hornady 105 BTHP match bullets, so I'd use those first.
I'd like to keep it simple - no neck turning or anything special.
I have plenty of powder and primers.
This won't be a bench gun. It will be a fun rifle to take to the range to try and shoot small groups out to 300, and I may take it for whitetails and coyote.
I am thinking a light or medium palma (or something similar) 24" barrel.
I don't know which twist: 7" or 8" ?
Thank you in advance for your help and experience.
