Advice for first 6br

Hello all,

I've never shot or owned a 6br, but I'd like to try one.

Is there a difference in the 6br Remington and 6br Norma? Hogdgon lists the 6br Remington in their reloading data center.

I have a Remington model 600 that I would like to rebarrel to 6br.

Right now it has an aftermarket 20" .243 barrel on it, so it's not factory original. I got the rifle second hand many years ago.

I have a little over 400 Hornady 105 BTHP match bullets, so I'd use those first.

I'd like to keep it simple - no neck turning or anything special.

I have plenty of powder and primers.

This won't be a bench gun. It will be a fun rifle to take to the range to try and shoot small groups out to 300, and I may take it for whitetails and coyote.

I am thinking a light or medium palma (or something similar) 24" barrel.

I don't know which twist: 7" or 8" ?

Thank you in advance for your help and experience.

Forget that the 6BR Rem exist. You want a 6BR Norma. If I bought a barrel I would buy a 6mm BRX. Simple to FF. 100-150 fps more than the 6BR. Equal to a 6 Dasher.

Now that Alpha is offering to make wildcat brass, you can go straight to 6 Dasher and you don't have to fireform at all. Just food for thought.

That extra case capacity in Dasher is only important if you need the extra range but still want to avoid extra wear or recoil of the larger designs.

I have a rem 700 action with a nss remage barrel. 105 berger hybrids w/ 27gr h4350. Not real fast a 2,700 fps. But sd is 3fps and good groups. This is a 5 shot group at 100 yards during load development. 20180217_134726.jpg
