ackley improved ?

I am thinking of buying 4 rifles from an estate 2- 223 ackley 1 25-06 ackley 1 22-250 ackley. my question is what would it take to have these rifles returned to the original calipers?

All depends on the barrel . They will have to be cut off set back and re chambered. I would recommend checking the chambers with a bore scope first. They could be Toast. Larry

+1 Savagedasher,

the other option, check the throat/bbl and if ok, shoot them as they are with or without the AI loads, then rebbl when bbl/s are gone,

Ai is in many calibers a desirable improvement.

new barrels most likely...setting the existing barrels back will likely have the stock/barrel clearance " looking funny" at the very least.

You will need to relmove 3 to 4 inches from the barrel to rechamber. If they are standard hunting barrels, you would be removing the whole heavy chamber section of the barrel... which is not reasonable - the barrels would look rediculous, and in the two larger calibres, would likely to be dangerous.

The only solution is to replace the barrels.

Why do you want to do that, the AI calibers are good as they are?

+1 to what IA_shooter said. I have a pair of 243 AI. One I re-
chambered from a 6XC and the ground hogs have regular memorial services. The other is on my Panda mid-range rifle and never has let me down. If the bbls. are in good shape, just take them out and have fun. That 25-06 would drop mid size game like free credit.
I hope this helps,
Lloyd

Is there some good reason you have to want to change them back?
