I was wondering if you can have a factory rifle in 243 or 22-250 chambered out to an ackley improved with out much trouble. Is it as simple as just reaming the chamber out a bit or do you have to cut the barrel and completely re chamber? The reason I am asking is that i thought i could fire form some brass so i dint have to when i go with a custom barrel. I would rather fire form on the factory barrel so i dont take life away from a good barrel. How involved is it to chamber a factory rifle to an AI? Is it worth doing for the reasons i mentioned? You will need to set the barrel back at least a full thread to be sure the chamber is cut correctly.
If you plan on using this barrel for fireforming brass for a different chamber you need to be 100 % sure both chambers are 100% identical to each other or it's a waste of time.

Some have reported excellant accuracy firing non-fireformed loads in their ackley chamber. You might want to try this first.
