Honestly, those were the last 3 shots of that load that I fired out of his rifle. I tried 3 other brands, but nothing grouped as well as the Remington Core Lokt, and he happened to have 3 boxes of it. I don't have a picture of the first 2 shots on the target, but I believe they were well within an inch of each other. Based on what I remember of those 2 shots, the first adjustment I made, where the 3rd shot hit, and the last adjustment that I made (vertical adjustment only), I'd say that group isn't terribly far from the average of what that rifle was capable of with that ammo. Everything just tracked exactly as I would expect it to.How many times were you able to get a group like that? I have seen many excellent groups by a rifle, but never able to do it again.
If I remember correctly, his dad had sent the rifle out to have the barrel cryo treated at one point. I don't put any weight in that process, but I think he just wanted to give it a try. While his dad was my smallbore coach back in the day, he wasn't a particularly good shooter himself (not bad, just not remarkable), he didn't reload, and I'm not sure he ever shot at an animal that was further than 200 yds away. I've always been impressed with the accuracy of the Savage rifles, but this rifle did seem to shoot remarkably well. I let him know to make sure his kids never sell it
