Ken you mentioned your bank,"Bank Of America". I cant imagine anyone who owns, likes and uses guns would even consider using the NO #1 anti American gun hating financial institution of this country.
BTW, before any one spends another penny w/Bass Pro or Cabelas, Bank of America is their bank of choice. LDS

While I would not debate gun politics here, understand that their policy, ultimately originates from the recieved threats from my own asshole gov. Andrew Cuomo that tries to put banks feet to the fire with large NY footprints, as somewhat of an FWI.

PayPal!!! Check out their history, and their current anti-gun spew. I am amazed that anyone here would use that outfit. Convenience is no excuse.

Well if you’re standing on principle then you’d never be able to ever post here, or anywhere else ever using a device made by a tech company, right ?

PayPal is #1 Larry. B of A is just in the top 10.

Tim, I havent a clue what their reason is. The one thing is clear, if thats their excuse, they are spineless. It hasnt reached the point in this country if you disagree w/powers to be, that they will put you in front of a firing squad. Several yrs ago I was denied a BPS CC because I'm an FFL. The difference between my business and BPS, I dont do Millions of dollars per day.
OBTW Ken, I dont deal w/PayPal either. LDS

Except, Larry, they will put you in front of a firing squad....financially, direct or indirect.
I don’t disagree with your position but, unfortunately, it has, sadly, come to this.
Politicians that cannot win at the ballot box will do anything because the arrogant bastards feel they have the moral high ground.

On my last purchase on line, I liked the phone conversation I was having with the seller. I decided to mail him the check, and PM’ed saying he could ship after the check arrived and cleared. He said thanks, but I have already shipped you the goods.
You gotta love trust,
Ben

I don't do a ton of business here, or anywhere else; but here on the forum, I'll gladly accept personal checks, or any other method of payment that is convenient for a forum member.

For a high-dollar transaction, I would use due diligence, just cuz Momma didn't raise no fool, but for lower dollar transactions, I can't believe that any of our community would trash their own reputation to burn any of us.

Heck I've given, and been guv, several items for free here and on a few other forums. We are indeed a pretty stand up bunch of folks. :) jd

That’s true of virtually every payment processor. Just the way it is.

@jds holler , I too believe we are surrounded by great folks, and were all closely connected.
Trust is a rare commodity these days.
Just because I dont live somewhere back east doesn't mean someone back there doesn't know someone out here.
It just ain't worth the trouble

Your deposit is not, in fact cleared. You will earn no interest on it or be able to draw against until it clears the system, usually a week or so.

Well, I get quite a different read on this from my bank. Some banks will tell you to wait 7, 10 (take your pick) business days for the check to clear. I use mobile deposit, the check will appear in my account the next banking day end, but I cannot be sure the funds are there until the following day.

What I absolutely know, when the funds are withdrawn from my account, they are in your account for the check I wrote you. Those funds don't sit somewhere earning someone else interest in the mean time.

I personally prefer to write a check for a purchase. It is much easier to deal with if it happens to get lost in the mail. I always ask politely, and if the person say no, I honor that. And if I do write them a check, I allow them to wait as long as it takes until they are comfortable in know the check has cleared before they ship.

I will happily take a check from any CONTRIBUTING member or anyone with a good trader history.

My sales have all been by personal check payments and have never had an issue with any members, all been very smooth transactions, I can also except paypal but it is a business account that charges 3% and I hate to charge the buyer that extra money, Personal check is the easiest means for me, thanks to all who have purchased from me

I recently sold a 700 bolt to a person on this site, I shipped it first so he could make sure it fit for his intended purpose, he then mailed me a personal check, which cleared just the way it's suppose to, no issues what so ever. I found that the people on this site are some of the most honest, upstanding, person of their word, people I have had the honor of knowing. When and if the day comes that someone on this site screws me..... I'll be very surprised and disappointed. But I doubt it will be any day soon.

Why not take all forms of payment? What about what’s best for the buyer?
Ben

I do take checks but i dont like to because im sitting on the check for 2 weeks sometimes. What about whats best for the seller since im the one providing the service or item the buyer wants? Every other week i drive 45mins to my bank and deposit a hand full of checks and money orders when somebody could have paypaled me and i would have that money available for cash flow. Im probably the only gunsmith or seller on here that takes bitcoin- lets move even farther into the 21st century while we’re moving.

Is there another bank closer?

Have y'all tried Zelle?

Dennis Haffner requested that I pay for a trigger with Zelle. I was a little tentative at first, but it seemed to be painless. A short time after, I ordered a barrel from Northland and Zelle was one of his options.

Don't know if there are any fees related to it, but I doubt it. Northland charges a small percentage for credit card, but not for Zelle.
