Accepting a check

antelope,
I don't stand in line at the post office. Especially since our post office has been closed since december for a collapsed roof.

Checks are simple and easy, I can deposit them from home or cash them in the supermarket. Money orders are not. My bank doesn't like them because they have been burnt with stolen ones.

I think a lot of people think they are doing me a favor sending a money order. Thought I'd let them know I prefer a check. thanks.

Well since you have them it behooves you to do something with them or put some ketchup on them and eat them. Next time someone sends one just return it and ask for a check. They are good indefinitely so when your PO re-opens call the postmaster or other responsible person and set up a time for him to redeem them for cash.

@carlsbad I had a $1200 western union money order stolen once. It was to pay a vet bill I had for one of my dogs.
Long story short. After a few months of bickering with the bank manager over the phone, " teller confirmed it had been washed and rewritten ."
I drove to her location. I explained due to the evidence from western union and teller that i wasnt leaving her bank until they reimbursed me for thier mistake.
I left with a $1200 cashiers che k made out to my veterinarian.
What a PITA that was.
