Thanks!I run up to .040" deep with .007" feed rate @ 225 SFM on my Haas TL-1.
The only time I've ever had a barrel move was being to aggressive turning the tenon. I think more because of the feed rate.
Mine are quite snug, gettin after it with a moderate sized Allen wrenchNot to side track, but it is relevant:
What ft-lb would you estimate they are torqued at?
That’s definitely more than I trust my front spider to take, eventually I’ll get a proper Chuck for it.On my Hardinge, I use a spider on the back and a Buck chuck on the front. From a 1.250 I turn to around 1.150, reset the digital and go to 1.060 on the next pass. It is rigid and accurate enough that it is rarely off by .001. Turning at 800 rpm.
perfectI find .020 - .030 DoC @ .004-.006 IPR at 600 rpm works fine on my G400G in a twin spider setup. I could probably take more but I don’t want to risk moving the setup and the above has been pretty bulletproof
I use a t-handle on 1/2-20 set screws and just snug it up good with one hand. No two handed twisiting crush. Not to side track, but it is relevant:

Your 8 screws looks solid but the two bolts closer to the spindle might give you troubleOn a front and rear spider setup like this with eight 1/4” brass contact points how much tool pressure would you run as far as depth of cut?
Is it fairly secure or dancing or walking on thin ice?
Thanks.

I don't ever go more than .010" if I am in a hurry for some reason, maybe on barrel contouring or something. On a front and rear spider setup like this with eight 1/4” brass contact points how much tool pressure would you run as far as depth of cut?
Is it fairly secure or dancing or walking on thin ice?
Thanks.

Those are backed up by two dowels you can’t seeYour 8 screws looks solid but the two bolts closer to the spindle might give you trouble
You will hear it and see the chatter should it arise
