Wisconsin has Timber Rattlers and Massasaugua rattlesnakes. The latter is a 'swamp' rattlesnake and is considered endangered. It is closer in relation to the pygmy rattlesnakes as the genus of both is Sistruis. Whereas the Timber is Crotalus. Because of low numbers of both in the state, they are both protected.They are rare in Vermont but I'm not sure but I thought Wisconsin was the only state in the lower 48 that does not have poisonous snakes. Or maybe it was Maine. If I'm not mistaken you have pigmy Rattlers, though their name might need to be changed 'cause it's "waisist".
