Anyone step on a rattler?

Driving around south central sd, my buddy was shooting pd from the truck with his shotgun( he is paraplegic). Asked me to pick up the empties, I was on his side and had grabbed several hulls when he asked if I was standing on a snake or a stick, looking I realized it was about a 15 inch rattlesnake. It was a cool late September morning otherwise I may have had a problem since I was wearing tennis shoes.

I live in eastern Montana over the years I have stepped on or over more rattlesnakes than I care to remember. One night I Heard my Aussy barking and could also hear a rattler buzzing(we have no air cond.) I got up and went to the back screen door all I could see was a huge rattlers head. I reached into the corner for my 12 gage. Its there for a reason, and ended his harassment of my faithful partner.

Rebel regularly sends me photos or videos of bugs and snakes, just for the evil fun he gets outta it, knowing I am seriously bugaphobic and snakes make me pee myself. Have not seen a snake in years till he started doing this. Last week I was weedwhacking some high grass and suddenly my weedeater bogged. I lifted it out of the grass expecting a piece of rope or stems etc. Nah...I had a three foot black snake by the tail, wrapped up in the head of the weedeater. Thank God the handle was longer and he didn't dislodge when I cranked out about 5000 RPM in a panic. He was caught up good. I am surprised, given my luck, that he didn't get launched mouth first into my cargo shorts or similar.

Since he was mangled, i axed him if he liked his head...he said every now and then he loses it. I burned the carcass in the burn barrel. I am never going barefoot in my lawn again. And I am certain Rebel is down there in the Carolinas with a rubber voodoo snake and a little doll with Snert written on its shirt...
:D
I try. Had a snake in the shop today. Black snake - had to get him out before the Jack Russells saw him otherwise there would be guts on the wall. But you don't have to be a bow legged westerner to be worried about rattlers. Killed abut 12 miles from the shop. Called Timbers here, down east called Canebrakes - same thing.

The one on the right was dispatched while digging Sang up north of here and a bit higher up. Customer said it looked like a huge mushroom coiled in the leaves.

Is there a "don't like" button?

Daughters driveway a mile from my house. I doubt if it is a foot long. Pygmy Rattlesnake. Lived around here 40 years never saw them till last couple years. Just lucky i guess. Rattles are tiny like the lead part in a wood pencil.

No rattlers stompin but, I was napping at werk one day at lunch and had a crescent wrench slip out of my tool pocket on my pants and rattle down to the floor. I turned a lunch table over and several chairs getting outa there. I am terrified of any snake.

Yo have heard the saying shit down both legs, I had to take a bath when I got back to the cabin. He was laying under a small limb with leaves right under a feeder. Probably waiting on a squirrel
