A BBQ thread

Okay Chili discussion, or debate if you will :)

Are you chili with beans or chili with no beans???

Since I'm from the southwest and fairly heavily influenced by New Mexico and a bit of Texas I'm in the no beans camp but if with beans is what is offered I'll eat it with beans. Beans (pinto's) in our house has always been a separate dish.

What say you???

I'm a Californian. My food restrictions/preferences are entirely based on flavor, quality, texture. Beans, no beans, doesn't matter. Ive had good and bad both ways.

I prefer Kidney with beans n bacon cubes. smoked hocks etc.
I make Smoked hocks and pintos all the time but not with Chile. For the last 30+ years or so I use more smoked shanks because they have more meat and less fat but I always put in at least one smoked hock. I had a butcher for years what would get in the whole pork back split down the middle, they were smoked just like the hocks. he would cut off both ends and then cut bone in chops. I would get both ends that were all meat hardly any bone, the area before and after the ribs. It was mostly meat and he would give them to me at a 1/4 of the price of hocks, I told him save them all for me, I would get 30-40 pounds at a time. Most people make "Beans and ham hocks" I make Ham hocks with some Beans" Sadly he closed as did my other butcher. Luckily one of the local grocery stores carries a good brand of smoked shanks and hocks and the plant is fairly close where I live.

What do you know! You put Linguisa in your beans! :D:cool: I think I may cook some Linguisa for breakfast now.LOL
I can’t help it if you were taught wrong. The proper way is have linguica is on your plate AND in your beans, LOL. Heck you could chop it up and put it in your salad too . Everyone can definitely tell your not Portagee..

No turkey for my Mom’s side at Christmas this year. Lingucia, Portuguese beans, ham, salad and various other sides. And good wine! It was great.

I can eat Lingusia any way and on anything! LOL When I cook it I cook 3-4lbs enough to have extra for a couple of days. Heck I like it cold left over right out of the fridge. Can't go wrong with Linguisa anyway it goes.
