Hey 65Fan, How did your Ladder Test Go,Let us know,65fan said:I shot a pressure test today 95 degree's retumbo 64.0 2870,64.5 2924,65.0 2952,65.5 2973,66.0 3020.all with 180 beregers and 250 primers.this was shot over crony to target at 418yrds 3 shots had no vertical.I will be lattering her up tomarow. ;D ;Djarhead1086 said:Good point 65 fan on the compressed charge pushing the bullet back out. I don't have a lot of squeeze. I have tried up to 66 grains of Retumbo with a 215 primer, .010" back, and had no pressure issues with my 180 Bergers and Norma brass. Seating I can hear a little crunch so I don't want to try squeezing in more than 66. The recoil is smoother than 62 grains of RE-25 but the necks look more sooted so it may be dirtier? My velocity data was corrupted by the @#!!$ operator. One sensor wasn't clicked in so my spacing was 3/4" off. Retumbo was faster than H1000 and RE-25 in my 30" pipe. Keep this one going folks. Thanks.

In a 30" melonited pipe, FED 210's, Norma brass, Berger 180's the 66.0 grains of Retumbo measured 3070 fps with single digit spread. (Quickload told me 3046 fps, amazing when I don't know all the quirks yet.) 63.0 grains of H-1000 was 2940 (Quickload said 2978). 62.0 grains of RE-25 was 2985 (Quickload said 3016). The temp was 82 F. The Retumbo ejector marks were very slight, the RE-25 and H-1000 looked a touch hotter, but very close. The Retumbo recoil feels just like the Quickload pressure plot looks, steady. I am using a QSM Magnum Ti suppressor. Recoil and sound are missing and I don't miss them. I can't wait to group at range. 66 grains of Retumbo fills my brass to the top of the shoulder, no more room.
Looks like you are right. I show that you will have a 4-5% compressed charge to get up over the 3000 mark. I have never tried compressing a ball powder before. Looks like I will pass on that. I will try some cold testing on Retumbo and RE-25 soon enough.TonyR said:I tried some Ramshot Magnum in my 284 Shehane, and if I remember correctly, it is a ball powder and could not be compressed at all. I gave it to a friend to try in his 338 Lapua. I don't know if it would over-fill either the SAUM or WSM cases.
