6.5 SAUM for F-Class

A 6.5 (264) 140 hyb @ 2800 ft/sec won't touch a 180 hyb, 215+ hyb in winds over 5 mph. Velocity of 3100 ft/sec + is a necessity if you are serious about being competitive against the big 7's and 30's. It is all rendered mute... the HEAT generated is unacceptable for long strings (26+ rnds). I get vert. from heat after 16 rounds. The recoil of a 6.5 saum (140 hyb @ ~3200 ft/sec) is slightly less than a 7mm saum (180 @ 2900) but its not a 6 br but any means. I'm all for a "giant killer", but it is still governed by the laws of physics' Its 2 lbs of sausage in a one lbs bag.

Suggest you check out the BC figures on a 155 gr. 6.5 VLD. This bullet is only about .050" shorter than
a 7mm 180 and has a 17cal ogive, and stabilizes very well in a 8 twist at 2650 FPS. A 9 twist could probably handle it at 3000 FPS which should be obtainable in a 6.5 Gibbs case with a long barrel instead of a SAUM case.

look at the 6.5 WSM,... I loved/love the case,... awesome with H1000 and 140's,... but more than a 1000 rounds of BR accurate fire? I call BS on that one. I know we have the "voodoo" of , OH, but the case geometry is so much more efficient, but in the end, it is just that, BS.

As for the Factory brass coming, anybody want to build a match rifle based on the proposed U.S. maker of this case? Hmmm?

It is a very cool round, just not for competition.
