7mm PRC?

I bought everything(except the barrel which I bought originally in 6.5 CM) to do a 6.5 PRC build but with hornady not addressing a 7mm PRC at this time, I've been kicking around a 7mm PRC on an extended remington 700 action (wyatt box etc).

How difficult would this be to put together? I don't see a reamer for this for a barrel, so unsure where to look (probably a beginning such as myself not understanding custom barrels).

Pretty simple to call JGS and give the neck specs for the 300PRC case. Recently found a .25/300 PRC reamer for sale. Considered it as well but realized I didn't need more horse power than I already have in that caliber. Seems about equal to the 7mm mag performance minus the belted cartridge. I can see where getting away from that would be an advantage also the longer neck for using the 195s and allowing more case capacity.

Or, you could just build a straight 284 which is equal to the necked up 6.5 PRC case. Lapua 284 brass would sure make life easier for you and probably lots of reamers already available. Just a thought.

Gotcha. You wouldn't expect that looking at them. The .500 vs .532 base makes a big difference.

I ended up ordering a reamer . Case capacity in virgin Lapua brass was 67.04 for the 284 and 68.30 for the PRC . Both cases necked up from 6.5 and h20 measured on FX 120i scale . ADG had very similar capacity and measurements.

In SA with mag bolt face I'd take the 7SAUM or Even 7WSM over necked up 7-6.5 PRC.

I built one on a SA Remington. Still allows an OAL of 2.980 in Accurate mags. Running the 160-168 class bullets. Much more performance than from any 7-08/7CM.

I'd be running a SA with a wyatt extended box if that helps with COAL for the longer bullets.

How is it getting brass? Seems factory ammo isn't a thing for it really.

The 7 SAUM seemed like a winner until I noticed brass is next to impossible to get, even in this climate with Norma stopping making it. Plus zero factory options.

Yes, I Id take this over a 284. I have some in F Open that are doing well. They will run where guys want the Shehane to run but the case shape is better and you wont hurt the primer pockets like you will in the 284 case. Its a far better design in my opinion.

I would agree unless a short action is used. The PRC/RCM case is a bit better suited. Either way mag limits could be an issue
