What reamer did you use for you prc-w?? For mine the builder used jgs no neck turn .316 neck for adg brass. I use a Redding 6.5 prc sizing die with a SAC .309 bushing. I have had no issues with mine.I get your trying to help, I've considered all the bandaids, and I guess I have chosen the FCP bandaid.
It's a jgs wheeler spec PRCW no turn reamer 0.319 neck I believe. I used a SAC die with a 0.307 bushing, then a 0.281 expanding mandrel. What reamer did you use for you prc-w?? You'll be perfect at 2.100. Go gage should close in action which is 2.103 in that reference gage.View attachment 1670484For 7FCP should I be concerned that I need to bump my brass back to 2.095 instead of 2.100 in order to get it to chamber with no excessive force? Also this is doing the false shoulder method. Not fire formed yet.
Does 55 gr. of N555 and seated to 2.417 for a Berger 180 gr Hybrid sound about right. Measured with a hornady comparater.
The go gage measured 2.103 and the bolt closes easily. Placed a piece of scotch tape on the back and it will not close. When I false shouldered to 2.100 the bolt would not close. I didnt force it. Wouldnt close easily until 2.095 ish. Is it abnormal for non fire formed 6.5 Lapua Brass. Smith used JGS .314 reamer. You'll be perfect at 2.100. I'm on 5 firings now and have yet to have a single piece of brass reach trim lengthThe NO turn 7 FCP holds the Palma, F Class record at 450-40X, shot last year by Rodger Mayhill. Also the Senior record for the same F Class F Open Palma is set last year with a 7 FCP as well, the turn version at 450-29X I believe.
If using the 6.5 PRC brass, the 7 FCP has the highest case capacity, therefore lowest pressure for a given velocity compared to all other variants. Also there is no donut issues like the 7-6.5 PRC as after the neck is expanded, the "donut forming area" moves into mid shoulder, therefore never reaching the neck/shoulder junction. The 40 degree compared to the 30 degree will also flow less brass from shot to shot, simple physics.
And for the record, pretty sure he spells his name Roger Mayhall. I think! The NO turn 7 FCP holds the Palma, F Class record at 450-40X, shot last year by Rodger Mayhill. Hello sir, joining discussion late, How does this compare with the.284 Winchester? You'll be perfect at 2.100. Go gage should close in action which is 2.103 in that reference gage.it comp
Paul Hill won the Fclass European championship at Bisley in 2018 l think, using 180 scenars and had the record score at 900 yards with them also. He used 7 SAUM.Hello All,
Living in England, we have a different set of challenges than you guys in The Land of the Free. Vhit 555 is readily available from pretty much everywhere at sensible, for England that is, prices but the availability of Berger 7mm Hybrids is non-existent. Zero!
I have tried approaching Grafs to ship from USA but they refuse as, apparently, Lapua (Nammo) built a warehouse in Germany to service Europe so they are prohibited from sending me some. Problem is UK is not in Europe anymore.
The only bullets we have a ready supply of are Lapua 180gr Scenar-L, Hornady 180gr ELD-M, and Sierra 180 and 183gr Match Kings. Hornady A-tips are available but sporadically and I suspect it is just old residual stock.
I like the idea of the 7FCP due to the potentially lower operating pressures compared to other 7-6.5PRC variants but I need to be able to build accurate ammunition otherwise I may as well not bother. So to my question…
Has anyone found any level of, hopefully, success using the Scenar-L or the other bullets mentioned above, or is the FCP so highly tuned to the Hybrids that anything else is a waste of time? I mentioned the Scenar-L specifically as this is the most readily available bullet at the most cost-effective price.
Thanks in advance

Have any friends coming over with big suitcases…? Just line up the paperwork. Thanks Cooler,
It looks like Mr Hill has won pretty much everything with the old Scenars and latterly Scenars-Ls.
Studying every detail of a topic initiated, and contributed mainly to, by our American friends does, naturally, tend to have me focus on the components they have available, so pretty much everything (!), and leave us scratching around to source the near unobtainium.
Maybe I’m focusing on too much of the fine detail when the wind at Diggle will always be a bigger influence on my scores. Still want the Bergers though
