7-6.5PRCW load data

With the 180 hybrids in a 32” barrel I would start at 53.5gr which put me around 2900fps. I don’t have any experience with other bullets.
I guess I should have put in which bullet I will be using. It is the 180 hybrids out of a 32” Brux barrel. Thanks for the info, this will give me a good starting point on a new cartridge to me.

With the 190’s I’d assume you’d have to start lower for sure. How much I don’t know. I assume a couple grains lower but I’d ask somebody who’s had experience with those first before I tried them myself.

Thanks Frank....This should be interesting.
It was very cool to see. All the loads with the N555 powder had SD’s in the single digits. The lowest one came in at 2. Only one load came in at a SD of 10 and again the rest where single digits.

The 166ATIPs being the lightest bullet came out sizzling at just over 3100fps right at about max working pressure.

Good stuff! This was just necked up Hornady 6.5 PRC brass? Neck turning or anything extensive?

Correct… just necked up 6.5PRC Hornady brass. I ran the brass a 7mm neck expander… then ran it thru a standard FL sizing die without the recapping rod assay in it (Hornady die) chamfered the case neck and then ran it into the 7mm neck expander again. Why did I do it this way. To take any dents out of the case mouth and to get the runout of the brass as low as I could. I’d say runout averaged .002” on the case necks.

Neck tension was .002” to .0025”.

I did check the flash hole and went in with a deburring tool to make sure there was no burr inside of the cases.

I did the same thing to ADG 6.5PRC brass and the Hornady brass I ran thru my bolt gun. No difference in accuracy.

The lot of Hornady brass I have though headspace measurement was about .006” shorter than the 6.5 PRC ADG brass I have. Again I don’t see any accuracy difference on the virgin brass.

I’ll say the Sierra Matchkings seated the smoothest with the Hornady ATIPs being a very close 2nd. I’d say the Bergers and ELDM’s felt the same. Did it affect accuracy? Not that I can tell. Just an observation.

All good to know, thanks Frank. Very similar to how I've been prepping virgin brass (+neck turning). And thanks in advance for the data you're putting together. I'm using n555 with really good results but feel like I've got to be toward the top as far as pressure goes. Will be interesting to see. Bartlein barrels of course.

I forgot… no neck turning on our reamer/chamber spec.

My loaded ammo is running about .3115"/.3120" on the neck with the lot of brass used in testing. Reamer cut the chamber to .3160".

The Lapua and ADG brass is so tough that it will let you do things you shouldnt. With a good action you will not have pressure signs. But your growing the case head and swelling the chamber. Had a customer get clickers around the 4th firing. No pressure signs. Die was sizing enough. So I had him measure the solid web. It had grown .004 in 4 firings. No ejector marks or bolt lift. Before ADG and Lapua got into the magnums we ran brass that would show ejector marks before we got stupid. Now it will let you get away with it. So just know that because you dont see pressure signs, doesnt mean your not there.
Alex

Are you seeing any difference between Lapua and the ADG brass. Are they both getting clickers just as bad?

No, both seem to be working well. My customers dont seem to be having issues with good dies. Its like any other cartridge. Just need to get the specs right.
I have your JGS neck-turn reamer. What sizing dies do you recommend to avoid the clickers with Lapua Brass and your reamer. Erik C says he has made several sized reamers(at the .200 line) but the only solution he has found is using roll sizer.

I'd love to find a better solution. Also, I will be loading N555 and Berger 180s.

Using Erik’s PRCW 1 die w/ Alex’s reamer is working well for me and no clicker issues. Running N555 around ~ 2900fps in a 32” barrel. Lapua and ADG are very similar. If you are neck turning anyway I would go with Lapua. I let the brass “dwell” in the die a few seconds while I lube the next one, seems to help also. 6-7 firings on the brass and it’s holding up well so far.

I just shot with ErikC a few weeks ago, and he had no clickers, and lots of Xs.

He sells dies, and will get you fixed up, I would reach out to him and ask again.

Hello Tvaught,
Just slightly off the subject but WHEN is N555 ever going to be seen in OZstralia...???
Vihtavuori powder has been "Un-obtainiun for some years now...
Tigershark Ballistics has done some direct import apparently but are currently sold out of everything and Q Store has not had stock for years nor NIOA who was your major importer and distributor.
Tigershark had an 8lb of N110 listed at $1,110 and is sold out!!!
Pistol shooters here are even more desperate than the rifle shooters and don't get me started about Lg rifle primers...
Some White River & Indian military are sporadically available as are Remington... Currently I can only find some RWS for $269 per 1,000...
