I know that the7-08 is used in shooting steel rams in competition. I know its an accurate cartridge also.At what ranges are these targets being engaged in competition?

chicken 200 meters(218yards) pigs 300 meters(328yards) turkey 385 meters(421yards) rams 500 meters(547yards) This is a fun and very challanging game.

Is there a hunting rifle division for shooting steel?

There are two separate categories; heavy rifle with weight limit of 10 lbs 2 ounces and a hunting rifle 9 lb class. The hunter rifle class requires a 2 lb trigger pull weight limit and a functional magazine. I would check the NRA rules because there may have been changes since my disc is a 2001 version.
