I'm not going to argue, I never said IT, couldn't be "Done" ( neck turning and Fire Forming brass, is Fine,.. IF, you like, the Extra work ). My .22-250 Brass had, very inconsistent Neck Dimensions and, I Quit playing around with it, Once I figured,.. THAT, out.
Personally, I'm NOT going to waste my Time, when I have, a 6 XC with, Norma Brass and 107 SMK's that gets My Rifle into the LOW, .2's.
Like Walt said, I'll just use several Times Fired brass, IF, I think that, I'll lose a few, in the Brush

So the bottom line is if you do it correctly without shortcuts then there are no issues!! @ackelymanII

Millions of 308 military have been re-formed to 22-250 over the years. 22-250 was re-formed to make the 6xc...So therefore one can conclude that one can make 6xc out of 308.

My primary motivation behind all of this is to wind up with 6xc Lapua SRP which you cannot buy, and secondly to have a supply of disposable cases for certain scenarios.

@AckleymanII is the expert on this subject. Just ask him and he'll tell you because he's done literally thousands and thousands.

You could also use 6.5 Creedmoor small rifle primer Lapua. Which is also pretty plentiful.

Where is the post your talking about ? I’m on the fence of building a xc but it would kill me to have chamber/brass troubles
If you don’t have control over the reamer maker, die maker and brass maker, Just build a 6x47 and shoot PETERSON brass. It’s outstanding. Do check the neck diameter against the Reamer as some reamers run a little tight for my liking.

You would if you ordered everything yourself. Not everyone is going to want that expense. Id never trust someone else with an XC print after seeing what a mismatch will do.

I seem to remember you’re a big proponent of the XC. I think that’s great. I’m a big 47 guy, and I think it’s the easier of the two, especially for a new guy.

(If it (the XC) had been small primer right out of the gate I might be a big XC guy, but it wasn’t.)

These days, I’ll take a BR variant over anything else so it’s really not even on my radar anymore.

6xc is pretty easy. I think the confusion stuff is long gone. If someone is pushing 6xc 2 I don't see them.

Reamers say Tubb. Dies say Tubb. Peterson and Norma make brass. Both Tubb.

I agree that Tubb should stick with small rifle primer simply due to availability.

IF you LIKE to use, Ball Powders, Fudge, the Small Primers as, you'll get,...
Hang Fires, and Velocity "Swings",.. in icy COLD Weather so,.. NO thanks !
David Tubb has PROVED that, it WAS,.. an "issue" with, small Flash holes / primers and, SOME Powders !
Large Primers, ONLY for, Me, in 6 XC and, 6.5 Creed. for, the Big Flash and,..
And lots of,.. StaBall 65 ( I'll take my chances on possibly, slightly,. bigger, Group's ! ).

Will literally never even consider a ball powder so never going to be an issue.

I’d much rather have an Alcatraz case head and buy one size of primer than worry about catering to a ball powder.

With respect, of course.

I saw a Reamer just today that said Tubb 6XC II.

I’m sure David didn’t make it, but that’s confusing.

What were the differences in the two? I honestly don’t know.

I'd ONLY use, the 6 XC Version ONE, Reamer and Norma or, Peterson 6 XC Brass with, Tubb or, Forster Dies, as all were "Spec'd" for, the Version One, Tubb Design with, Different Throat lengths. IF wanting to shoot his 115's DTAC's a Longer Throat, is required. Mine has a .104 Free Bore to use, 80 to 108 grain Bullets,.. "Perfectly".
The version TWO is IF, you want to Play with, .22-250 Brass and, make / Fire Form, Win & Rem 250 brass into 6 XC.
The ll version, HAS a larger Dimension at, the .200 "Line" ( to avoid "Clickers" ) and, I doubt if, D. Tubb had anything to do with, it. Urbanrifleman has it Right, also and SADLY it was a Pain, to sort thru, all the BS, a Few years ago !

I still think about ordering a .050 freebore Reamer and slinging some 70 grain varmageddons at coyotes. I even bought a box of brass once, but never made it past that.

The difference is that some gunsmith decided that he was going to modify the design of David tubb's cartridge and he ended up confusing everyone and basically destroyed the growth of the cartridge. There is no confusion today. David really got screwed on that deal because the 6XC2 had nothing to do with him.
