6mmBr and the 105 amax

Thinking about using these on some 500-600 yd pdogs this summer. Any loading tips? Jumping or jamming?

1/8 twist pacnor shoots the 90 bergers well. Got plenty of varget and h4895 to try along with cci 450's.

Appreciate any input.....

Justin, I am using the 105grn A-Max out of my custom 6BR with awesome results. My Bartlein barrel was throated with a .100 lead so take that into account when looking at my OAL. I am using the following;

1. Lapua Brass
2. 105grn A-Max
3. Powder-30.3grns Varget
4. CCI 450 primers
5. Jumped .010
6. COAL- 2.330
7. Velocity-2880fps

My rifle is shooting consistent groups in the .1's and the .0's when I do my part. I made two 800+yard kills on squirrels last Saturday. The 105grn A-Max killed them instantly.

Thanks for the load. I'll try jumping them over varget. I jammed them .015 over 3 different loads of varget. The hottest load tightened up to about .4 but nothing to write home about.

H4895 gave me a little more consistent results. This rifle has been finicky to load for a 6mmbr. It hated 75gr vmax and 87 vmax, and tolerated berger 88lds.

I don't want to give up on the amax b/c they are more affordable and easier to come by.

6BR,
What scope & power are you using for that 800 yd shot? I have the same set up but havn't tried the 87 gr vmax yet. Mine seems to like the berg 90gr & 108gr bt's With RL-15 & varget. Same everything else.
Happy shootin...

Gambleon,

I am using a Nightforce NXS 8x32x56mm with the MLR reticle. I would highly recommend the 105grn A-Max for varminting, even for the shorter range shots. I hit a couple of squirrels at 300 yards and it tore them up really good. Here is a pick of my custom 6BR,

HPMike, I have posted a couple pictures of my rig on other posts, I am glad you finally where able to see her. It is an awesome rifle and freakin accurate like no other. I love the Stiller Predator Action. It's super smooth and tight. The Bartlein barrel is the best barrel I have ever owned. Like I said, this rifle is shooting in the .1's with ease and it will shoot in the .0's if I do my part.

Gambleon, thanks for the complement on my rifle. Chris Matthews of Long Shot Rifles,LSR) builds an excellent and very accurate rifle. If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask.
