if anyone shoots these well can you suggest a load. I realize all rifles are different but I can't get these to group worth a damn with the powder I usually use for 105's (vv150). I know it isn't me because I can usually shoot .5 MOA with 80, 88, 90, and 105 Bergers. I've tried jamming and jumping, .001 and .002 neck tension. I figure I'd check here before trying to sell them. I've got N140, N150, Varget, and IMR4895 available.

thanks
Al

I haven't shot them in 6mm, but I did buy a box in 6.5mm to check the weight and length tolerances vs my othe 6.5mm bullets. The Hornady HPBT Match bullets had the worst weight variance and base to ogive tolerances out of all the bullets I tested.

The list below shows the bullets that I tested which had the tightest weight and length tolerances in order from best to worst.

1: Berger Target VLD - 6.5mm, 140gr
2: Hornady A-Max - 6.5mm, 123gr
3: Lapua Scenar - 6.5mm, 139gr
4: Hornady HPBT Match - 6.5mm, 140gr

The top three best tolerances were all within acceptable limits. Meaning 85% or better were within .5gr of weight and within .003 length. Other folks acceptable tolerances may be more or less.

Berger was by far the best with over 95% being within my set limits. Hornady A-Max and Lapua Scenar very close together at around 85%-90%, but Hornady HPBT was WAY below the tolerance levels of the other three. I've seen Nosler Partitions have just as tight tolerances as the box of Hornady HPBT I tested, so not very good at all. I think only about 60% of the Hornady HPBT bullets tested were within a decently tight tolerance of each other. The other 40% were all over the place.

My test was only with one box so it does not prove anything, but it was enough for me not to consider them in my arsenal of components for reloading.

Im shooting the 105 Amax in a straight 243 win with IMR 7828 SSC. I was having issues with grouping as well until I did the Berger seating depth test. Voila, at a surprising .040 off of max jam they closed down to half moa from an atlas bipod and rear squeeze bag.

I shoot them in my 6Br and my 240 Tomahawk in midrange prone and across the course, usually .025" off. I have used Varget, H4895 and 8208 (in the 240). They shoot well and my scores are right there with my Berger and 107 scores. Usually as you said, N150 shoots well, so as suggested, adjust seating out and test.

I have had some good X counts (for me) with them. Usually, for me, they are not temperamental to seating depth and i have found for me, they like to be jumped. Dave

I only jumped about .010. I'll try more.

My limited experience with hornady match mimics leddslinger. I separated my hornady match into 5 or 6 bags divided up by weight with the most projectiles weighing in at 105.2g, in other words weights were All over the map. I didnt get a chance to measure with a comparator as midwayusa shipping to me takes ages. I got a decent .55 group with the sorted bullets, .10 jam and 30.3 g varget. Shilen 1:8 barrel.
The berger vld variance in weights are so slight I might not bother to weigh or sort them for the type of shooting I am doing. I havent cracked my box of scrnars open yet but the scattered hornady match i have left will be fouler fodder
