6CM testing Results

Hoser,
I have had great luck with the 6MM CM and 6MM Creedmoor. I have had customer's rechamber their 6MM SLR Rifles to the 6MM Creedmoor and 6MM CM. I can't think of a 6MM chamber that is capable of working with as many different bullets and powder combinations. I still like the Dasher for a dominate 6MM but on any given day the 6CM and Creedmoor will BEAT YOU. Give me a call I have a new throat design that will work great with these chambers.
Thank You Dave Kiff

Well
There is a good chance that I have the new throat design.
I've had my 6CM reamer for 3-4 months and after working the fire forming bugs out of the way, it shoots really well. It loves the 108 Bergers!!

I've got two more barrels in front of me that are 7.8 twist used for hunting and What else ever.

Yep. I checked and you and Dave Bruno have the very reamer we are talking about . I think Dave sent in a dummy round that was sent to him by his customer. I have been pulling the angle up sharp and hand stoning the angle to just touch the lead or if the customer asked for the elliptical throat I hand stone the ellips in. The elliptical throat has been kicking butt. It also adds life to the barrel. Thanks Dave

Don, thanks for asking about Daves reamer. I talked with him about it and he also ordered a 6mm PPC with the elliptical throat. I cant wait for Dave to put it to the test. I will tell you that throat shoots a ragged hole and will shoot as good as you can read the wind. Thanks Dave

Hey guys....anyone have 10 pieces of formed brass I could buy so I can see if this will work in my AW mags.

Dave, what bullet in the dummy round? Freebore? Reamer print #?

Thanks

Just shipped a new barrel and my action to Dave Bruno this Monday. Will have to talk to him about the new reamer. This thread just got real interesting.

Mr. Kiff, more info if you would be willing.

Dave, Do you know which 6CM reamer Dave Bruno Chambered Joe's latest barrel that he will hopefully be winning again with at Camp Perry?

dave, what would it cost me to get a 6cm reamer for lapua brass ?i still want a 6cm but as you said no reamers fit this cal. with lapua brass.i dont want to sort brass like some do with win. brass!

To grind the reamer with the special throat you must send me a seated dummy round so I can copy the elips and make the throat match the round. I can tell you this has worked great for a couple of shooters. The cost is 148 bucks as these are hard to make. Thanks Dave

I have an elliptical throated Palma reamer and I can say for certain that after multiple barrels, the chambers with the elliptical throat don't shoot any better than those I have cut with the Palma 95 reamer.

In reality, after 500-1000 rounds down the barrel whatever ellipse you may have had in the throat is gone or going.

Maybe it's o.k. for short range bench rest where they may pull the barrel after not too long, or where they set back and re-chamber regularly, but for a long use high round count barrel I don't see an elliptical throat as useful.

Dgd6mm Doc Gundog and teely 1, I have some top shooters that rechamber as needed that would not have any other throat. The 308 reamers I have made that work the best all have half deg. or more . I like 1-30 deg for most of my bench reamers. Midd and his wife and the girls have all broken record and won many matches with the half deg. angle. The elips is for the folks that look for the edge 1n the first 600to 800 rounds on the barrel burners. And yes the military has studied the throat and we found it is not practical for commercial use but they did find in there study that the throats lasted longer by eroding from radical angle back to the lesser 1 .5 deg. angle. I think that 22 and 6mm is the best cal. for this project .I know for a fact that If you try a 6mm anything with the elips it will shoot fantastic. The reamers made for lapua brass or for any modification is 138 .00 we do not have any special mark up price for print changes

It works just fine in mine. I have an AW and an AX. When you load it up to 10, the top round or two is a little stiff, but it feeds just fine.

PM me your address and I will send you some brass.

Dave Kiff, I got the print and sent it on to teele1 and he will take care of it. teele1 is my bestest shooting buddy and fellow 6CM shooter. He has a call in to you.

Thanks,
Don Dunlap

Hoser,
tmr and I got the brass thing taken care of. I sent him a couple of pieces of brass awhile back. I'm senting more today. I've got about 150 pcs. that have 18 fireings on them that I don't shoot anymore except for practice, don't want to take a chance of 1 going down in a Tac match. I've checked them all and they are still in good shape. It's better to be safe then sorry.
