6BRX question???

I am thinking about chambering for a 6BRX, Can i set up my 6BR dies to use with the BRX? If so can you all give me some tips?

Thanks T 700

Yes, you sure can. I love the 6brx. I now also have a 22brx that I am just starting to play with.

You want to set the 6br die up .100 above where you set it for a 6br. I load up the 6br brass with a fire form load, shoot it, push the primer out with a lee universal de-prime die, then push the shoulder back about .002, run the bottom of the case through a .308 base die. I do this every time. I then seat the bullet with a 6br die. I am using Varget now, but may play with some other powders in the future like RL15 or H4895. I use RL15 to fire form. It is so boringly accurate. I still have to get the 22brx up and running when I can find the time. It has a 7 twist Brux barrel for the 90gr Berger. Once you get rolling I think you will really like the BRX.

That was what i was wanting to know, But why do you run the brass through the 308 die? don't the br dies size it?

22BRX now that is interesting :)

T 700: The 6BR sizing die will not size the case head area, and after 3 or 4 loadings, the case head diameter must be reduced or you will get very hard bolt closing, or no bolt closing at all.

Running the 6BRX case into a 308 sizer will reduce the case head diameter.

PM coming your way.

If you will research this forum there are hundreds of post of information on the 6mmBRX. Robert Whitley offers full length dies for the 6mmBRX. I still use 6mmBR dies backed out .098" and a 6mmBR body die with the top end bored out. As for the 22 BRX it has been around for several years. Best 5 shot group I evershot was with a 22 BRX (.089"). I am now thinking about building a 20 BRX.

Rustystud,

Thats a great group, 20 BRX that could be a barrel burner!!!, But what fun that would be shooting it out.

If you've already got 6BR dies, you can use them as the others have said.

Otherwise, if you're buying, just buy a BRX die from Robert Whitley (I got mine from my gunsmith, who I believe got it from Mr. Whitley). It's only a skosh more expensive than a new 6BR die. Second, buy a 6BR wilson seating die and have your gunsmith bore it out with the same reamer he uses to cut your chamber.
