6BRA second go

I would try +.022, +.020 & + .018" if I were you. Throwing out the cold bore shot +.020" looks great. The happy spot for mine with the 103VT is +.018". +.020" is pretty good. +.016" is garbage. I shoot for .018" + a smidge to stay away from the bad news at .016".

I still cannot wrap my head around why such a small difference in seating depth makes such a huge difference on target, but it does.

My touch length is determined by the stripped bolt method that Alex posted the video of & my Hornady comparator.

I use Alex's method also to find my touch..
That one low on +20 was not a cold bore shot.. I used 5 foulers and sighters 1st then I went up and shot that group. But it can't hurt to try a bit deeper, but has to wait now as I fly back to work for a week. I'm trying 0.003 neck tension next to see if it helps
Cheers

I have a case with a similar mark, though down in the body. It shoots within my groups at 1k. Sometimes down in the 5s. Though yours being at a junction area like that, I would have some concern.
.

It looks a lot better these days. And probably has been shot 10 times since the initial appearance that looked just like yours......

Try a lighter neck tension also..cover all bases.

Thought I'd put this up.. While running in barrel I had made some load test rounds with 107gr match Kings that I never used with my 1st barrel so I'd thought I'd use them to run in the new barrel.. There was only about 30 rounds on barrel when I did this at 100mIMG_20180829_132900.jpg . That top let group was my 1st 5 shot group (shots 6 to 11)
You can see the usual nodes haha.

Mo shoot em :)

I have 200 Sierra 107s that I haven't tried. Now you make me want to. It looks like a very wide node between 30.9 - 31.3

These were shot with formed brass I assume?

Dont forget, the previous groupings were at 200m, and the one showing groups from 107s were only at 100m. Not saying they dont/wont work, because I had a barrel that liked them too. Just making sure you caught that detail.

Hopefully he sells em cheap to me.....

Couldn't get the Copperheads working in my barrel unfortunately - jumped them, jammed them...didn't matter even though the Labradar data had single digit ES and SD, all groups on paper were lousy. Since I've run out of Berger 108s, I've managed to get a good supply of Scenar L's and they're looking alright thankfully.

I had a few Senars ,never really tested them too much beyond a ladder that suggested a higher node. They seem very consistent weight and BBTO

I’ve got as far as the first powder charge test on this barrel with the Copperheads, so far there showing promise at 200m...more testing to do.

A touch more sorting involved with Sierras, lot to lot is the problem
I ran a box that shot incredibly small then the next box were crap

Just an update I used 003 neck tension for this test and finally got to 400m as wind was great . But got a slight mirage in on the 30.3 to 30.5gr test but it was going up and wasn't flat
over all 29.7gr and 29.8gr were average as but 29.9gr again was awesome ( the low one was me as I hit the trigger when I wasn't set up correctly .. I will use 29.9gr tomorrow in a shoot but I have loaded up 1 relay with 30gr to see what it does. Hopefully the node will be slightly bigger

Update coz I can haha
Well 29.9gr of 2206H/H4895 and 103gr copperheads were crap at 500m.. Had about 2 inch vert.. Tried 30gr in perfect conditions and had about 4inch of vert. Just wasn't happy at all
So I tried benchmark 8208/IMR 8208 XBR and shot at 200m with 005 jam
IMG_20180925_101506.jpg
The mirage and wind came in on last group. so I am going to test 30.9gr and do seating again
But I thought bugger it I will try 2208/varget as it was in my head
The mirage and wind was in (coming from behind flicking left and right) Had scope on 30 power coz of mirage and just picked constant conditions and rattled down on groups
I went from 31gr to 31.8gr in 0.1gr increments and trust me to not load 31.9 and 32gr Again 200m and 103gr jammed 005. Speeds were 31.7gr 2960fps ES 6 SD 3.5. and 31.8gr 2975 ES 12 SD 6.
IMG_20180926_110648.jpg
So I'm going to test both a bit more and see what happens
If these turn out no good I will try 107gr serrias MK as we can't get 6mm bergers here because berger are that far behind on orders for Australia it's not funny.. Like over 12months and the supply is a trickle from berger.. Not happy
