Just started playing with this. N135 was dead nuts on same velocity as the same weight of H4895 with a Berger 105 hybrid. I need to run a jump test to confirm accuracy but I would not kick it out of bed for eating crackers using the 0.010” off I am tuned with the H4895.

All else equal, I tend to lean toward a faster powder when I can. Only reason is lower muzzle pressure. Probably all between my ears but you can literally feel the difference in recoil on some guns. Same bullet, same speed and all..the faster powder will generate a bit less recoil. If I can feel it, I have to think the bullet does too. Again, probably more between my ears than anything to get hung up about.

Faster powders have a snappier recoil, whereas slower powders push more.

Powder volume is factored into recoil calculations as well and the difference in muzzle pressure is real and can be seen on a pressure trace. All else equal, a heavier powder charge creates more recoil and is a part of the ejecta.. and a faster powder does the same work in less time, leaving less powder volume unconsumed and yields a lower muzzle pressure. Ya might claim that I'm imagining the felt difference and I couldn't argue with that but there is a physical difference that is not imaginary. Perhaps that's why it feels snappier, as the push is for less duration. Not worth arguing over either way.

Just got back from shooting two new 6BRA’s with 12tw barrels. Loaded 80gr barts with 4895 and 135. loaded 30.5gr‘s of both just for fire forming. Both shot great but 135 was about 125fps faster at 3166.

24 inch barrel, 31.4 gr N135 gives me 3190 fps with 7.5 primer. I have about every primer made, but this combo does the trick with 80 Dom and I see close to the same results with Berger 80 fb varmint bullet.
100/200/300 this will get the job done!

As a side note, I tried shooting N135 in my Dasher. Did not work, too hot for node. It likes Var and Bart's Gungnir with 205m at 2980. You never know until you try!

The powder I use in 68gr loads for varmint, in a standard BR, pushing 3450+ with .3 moa.in a 22.5" barrel. My first choice was H322, but I'm hoarding that for 222. 135 has never been my choice over 85 grains, but for lighter it has served me well. Also ignited with Rem 7.5"s.

Update on today’s project. Conditions were mediocre at best. But happy where we ended up. Lapua brass, 205m primers, N135, 108 bergers.

Ran a seating depth test at 300 yards this morning from +.003 to -.021 every .003 skipping touch. Temps today started off at about 34° and finished off at about 45°. Winds were switchy at about 10-12 with medium mirage.
Took the .018 jump and went to 600 to play with powder. Tested 30.3-30.5 biggest it shot was a 2.08 at 30.5 then it was off to 1000. Tested the same charge weights, and biggest it shot was a 5.84 and that also was at 30.5.
30.3 and 30.4 shared similar results at 600, and 1000, but I favored the 30.3 especially since I’m not completely sure of the temp stability of this powder.

I’m really putting some faith in swapping my firing pin assembly in my neuvo. That assembly only had roughly 2000-2500 rounds on it though. So we will see what happens. Looking to get out Tuesday after we get home from Vegas Monday evening and then I’ll have the upcoming weekend to test as well.

Justin, is the Vegas trip work or pleasure ?

pleasure this time lol. I was at SHOT show with Brunos shooter supply. Amy and Paul are good friends of mine, and they were gracious enough to take the wife and I back to SHOT show again.
