Varget in 6 BRA? Anyone?

I’m going to try a different powder in my 6 BRA. I tried H4895 given that many folks on here have great success with it using 103-105gr bullets. My results were abysmal. Initial load dev included 103 Vapor Trails…of which I have a surplus and hope this barrel likes them (Krieger 4 groove 1-8” twist).

This rifle shot surprisingly accurate with factory 6BR Lapua Scenar ammo (105gr). So I know that it will be accurate with some load(s). I don’t shoot factory ammo in any of my rifles except for occasionally the first 100 rounds when shooting in a new barrel. That 6BR Lapua factory ammo shot so accurately that it really surprised me being factory amm. All initial load testing shot at 100 yds.

I am wondering whether anyone has experienced the same. Also if anyone uses Varget in the BRA?

6BRA Varget load data?

Just starting load Development, I know a lot of folks are getting great results with H4895 but I have about 10 lbs of Varget to use so I’ll be using that with berger 105 hybrids just touching. Any help with a starting point would be greatly appreciated. New to the forum first post. Thanks all

My 6 BRA may prefer Varget ?

As the other threads will point out, Varget is a great powder for the BRA.

Mine shoots it significantly better than H4985.

29.5-29.8 is a good fire forming load, mine settled on 31.5 @ 2940 with a 105 hybrid, and now-formed Lapua brass.

Mine is the opposite, just went out a couple of weeks ago to try some Varget loads cause I got a crap load. 4895 still won. Next barrel could be different.

Don't forget about Precision powder. Works very well with my .223 w/ heavies as well as .308 Palma loads.
