The 6 BRA may not be more accurate at 300 yards than the 6 BR, but it is accurate enough for competition. Here is a group that I shot at 200 yards two weeks ago....in the LA mirage. I am fairly new to the BRA and am still learning about it. Good shooting...JamesHas anyone found the accuracy of the improved to be better than the 6BR though? It will naturally buck the wind a little better, but is it any more consistent or accurate at shorter (300y) distances than the straight BR in perfect conditions? I want to get another barrel chambered up purely for 300M and cant make my mind up whether to go with the standard BR or improved version for pure accuracy.

1x8 twist. Myself I have 105 VLDs and Berger 108s I will be tuning shortly. ''Perfect conditions'', not often lol. I would think the Bra would outperform the Br by a little in average conditions?
If my rifle performs like jamesdmock's I will be happy.
In my OP I was wondering why a bra would outperform a br with the same bullet and powder etc, say 105s over 30 gr of Varget. I can understand performance gain if the bra can reach a safer powder charge than the br. Especially on a windy day or at distance.
thanks guys Don
How do you figure it costs you money? If your a dasher shooter and you want to try a BRA it will cost you a $75 sizing die. Or you could even cut down your existing die. T I just dont follow your logic. Trying a 6BRA can cost nothing when switching from a dasher. You are not missing anything and there is no advantage to be clear, in fact many disadvantages especially the financial ones.
I just cant stand it anymore. more people are going over to the BRA side and very disappointed, gee its not magic and was a financial step backwards, funny how that works.
The 6BRA (with or without panties) has nothing on the straight 6BR, or 6BROS, (BR Old School). Nothing.
The magic is in the powder,(dare i say what, oh dear, really upsetting the short lived session of "The Emperors New Cloths") then of course as always its barrels and bullets, simple as that.
If everyone shoots a 50 then the 50 would rule. A few really good shooters get out there there with BRAs and do well, ya know what hey would do just as well with a BR going the same speed all day every day if the barrels and bullets were the same. They know it too, just not saying for various reasons no doubt.
The shoulder difference means nothing except more money spent on things that you dont need too, vs barrels and bullets.
The 6BRA is the greatest gunsmithing marketing rouge (GMR) of our time.
Look in your Berger reloading manual a the 6BR loads, seat the bullet just above the doughnut area, make sure you have good reamer profile and its all magical,, the info is there, the truth is out there and closer than you think, now go find it and be happy and proud.

This is getting good. I got the popcorn.
Nope. Like you said, you need fresh barrels. When its time to re barrel, have it chambered in a BRA. No cost change to the shooter. Same powders, bullets, primers, cases, as the 6br or dasher. Dasher seating dies work as is, dasher sizing dies get cut down or bought new for $75. Lots of smiths have reamers. We change things to try and find something better. Its that simple. Your BRA did not perform for you Gary? What bullets and powders did you try? What barrel?New dies
New bbl and the cost of machining for some
Does the victim own the reamer or depend on a Riflesmith.
If a 6mm more standard and proven cartridge is working well why change the program spend the money on more barrels, fresh barrels win matches at any level, i dont mean to over state the obvious here so ill leave it at that.
Different powder, lets not forget that.
