6-PPC for hogs

What would you think of a rifle weighing 6.5 pounds chambered in 6MM-PPC shooting a 68 grain bullet for hog hunting~? Great weight for carrying all day, super accurate caliber, very accurate rifle with the abllity to hit the hog in the eye~!
I have been close to building myself a light light ppc many times like that. Same with a light 30 br. But when it comes down to it I still have not done it. The reality I guess is that those are short range cartridges, and their BR accuracy just wont make any difference in the useable range. But its still a fun idea. I would consider a 30BR if you want a BR round for hogs.

I had a client who was raised on a ranch in Florida. We were in our 50s when I met him.and was an excellent marksman. He told me that during his hunting years he had killed many deer and had never used anything bigger than a .22LR.

I took a Tikka t3x compact and bought a replacement bolt body with a ppc boltface from precision rifles out of Canada and a lightweight contour barrel and built a lightweight rifle to hunt with and blow out lapua ppc brass. It feeds great from a 223 magazine ..a fun rifle to shoot, hunt and let my boys learn with

This guy knows how to knock them down in Australia. Believe he runs an Australian made wedgetail rifle and 130-150gr soft point factories. Aims between the shoulder blades to take out the spine and punch down through the vitals.

The 30BR in a hunter light-weight rig shines like a new silver dollar. My custom Model 7 with # 4 taper 23 inch barrel does a fantastic job with the Nosler 125 gr. Accu-bonds @ 3000 fps with the right powder and the best part is the accuracy.

I would say it’s worth it then over a .556 with the results he was getting.
He did a video explaining his choices but looks to have been taken down. 308 is available in remote areas and he selects bullet weight based on the terrain and game. Pigs, camels, wild horses. He gets paid as a contractor to eradicate pests humanly. After shooting they do a fly over and double tap anything that moves or is large. All kills are GPS marked. 556 ends up costing more in helicopter time.

Very interesting, thank you.
