6 Dasher or 6x47Laupa

T 700,

I shoot in a varmint silhouette competition where the 6mmBR, 6mmDasher, and 6x47 are all used. The targets are from 200 to 600 yards. I have used the 6mmBR and the 6x47, and won with both. My experience is that the slower bullet with less recoil from a heavy rifle will be the most accurate, so the 6mmBR is inherently the most accurate when the wind isn't blowing. Unfortunately the wind blows here and pushes the slower bullets off target more than the faster bullets. I have a very heavy rifle, so I can use the 6x47 and not pay a penalty for the increased recoil, and it is noticeably more, but in a normal weight rifle, the Dasher is the best compromise and is what most competitors use.

jlmurphy,

You are right about the wind and slow bullets. I think i will start shooting a few mataches, when i get to know the rifle. I just heard so many good things about the dasher, i am going that way, I need all the help i can get!!!

I thought I would give you my 2 cents worth. I have built and shot a lot of 22, 6, and 7mm BR rifles. I love them, but I thought I would try a 6 Dasher no turn neck. I like it even more than it's parents. I used a Mike Kiff, Pacific reamer to build the Dasher. In the process of fire forming I lost 2 out of 100. Horanady will build and sell you a "Hydro Form" die if you don't want to go through the fireforming thing, but it sells for about $165.00. I have only had a chance to shot at 600 yd. distance but I did manage to shoot a 4 1/2" group 1st time shooting the rifle. I have not had a chance to load any 95 gr. Nosler Partitions but I would surely like to try them out in West Virgina Doe season. I forgot to mention it was with 105 A-Max 32.5 Varget CCI 450 primer that I used @ 600 yards and a 1 - 8 twist Krieger barrel. Hope it helps
