6 Dasher

Hi Wayne, Im sure your stuff will be highly tuned as well...... Its not looking good for me right now on being there for the first shoot this next weekend. I hope you do well with those VLD's
I have never had much luck getting those to tune.

Wayne,

The barrel I got for you is the sister to this one! We did not bore scope either one, just grabbed one.... maybe yours will be the good one!

Tom
Tom,
If it shoots half as good as yours I will be ecstatic!
Wayne.

Derek,
I won't have time to tune but I am coming and I am shooting and the bullets will fall where they may, I have the same bullets as you also but I am not wasting them in this wind, I know about where Tom seats his so if my barrel has any life left in it at all it should do okay, I chronoed some the other day with 32.5 grains .002 off and they were running 3027 so I should be close to a node right there, just gotta figure seating depth, he p.m me with how much total neck clearance your running or how much per side either way please, either you or Tom's thought would be nice, I am running .003 total and I think I may increase that some.
Wayne.

I would like to chamber a 243 sporter barrel in either 6mm BR or improved (BRX, Dasher). The barrel length will be 24 inches. Not a bench or competition gun.

Are there reasons NOT to chamber in 6mm Dasher? Downsides vs 6mm BR?

Thanks gents.

I just got my very first 6 Dasher built and shooting. LG 26" bartlein 1-8 twist. I dont like case forming or case prep work. But i do it for all my rifles. Im really likeing the dasher so far. it flat out shoots.
I have been working on a sporter weight, short action. 26" #3 spoter barrel, 1-8 twist. in 6 dasher same reamer, chamber as my LG so i can use it's cases. WHY? ah a 105 VLD at 3,000FPS is good medicine for whitetail, coyote, groundHogs and others even at long range. add sub 1/2 MOA accuracry. Plus I feel a custom, well built sporter could compete in some, club matches, groundhog shoots, ect. I have been able to get a 105 VLD up to 3,075 FPS out of my 26" barrel..It was a hot load..But i have not explored slower powders yet. I also have some 87 GR V-Max's cant wait to see How fast and far i can shoot them. I think the Dasher is worth it. to me the 6BR is the greatest Varmint/target cartridge in a 1-14 twist tube EVER!.

How about Any updates on the DX!!!!
Any more testing or competition to share with us.

Anxious(lol),

We are through four matches and it's holding its own. Derek should get this weekend results up soon. I'm pretty sure through four it's group agg is right behind Derek's dasher, and score agg is either leading or close also. There's only one DX being shot at our club, but soon BOZO will have his going also.

Comparing it to previous dasher barrels I have shot, it is right there. I felt it was close or better than my 2010 dasher, but isn't quite proving it yet. It's daddy seems to either load bad or drive bad lol.

Tom
Tom,
Really after this weekend you have energy for accurate shooter? LOL

Randy,
Don't let Tom fool you he did really well for the conditions, it was the worse conditions I have ever competed in, I did terrible! Tom did not do his usual but it was far from usual weather, wind snow, more switchiy winds and worse then all that the worst light conditions EVER!! I watched Tom put 10 down range in maybe 20 -22 seconds with his heavy gun, it was really a awesome site to behold! I have seen him run his 17 # faster but his heavy is HEAVY! My oldsest son competed for the first time and had problems and DQed his first two relay's but came back today with a 6.9 and a 9ish group with a old wore out 2000 plus rounds Savage, so I was very happy for him, Derek did way awesome as per usual, I did terrible as per usual but I should have a 6brdx running for the next match, Leo did a awesome job on my new rifle the pics that Tom posted didn't even come close to doing it justice, I did not feel too bad though as there were several dq's on sat by some pretty good shooters, I think I had the funnest weekend I have ever had over there even though the weather was the worst and I did bad, all those deep creek boys are just the best to hang out with I have ever been around and I haven't spent any quality time with my oldest since he was in high school and he is 27 so it was a GREAT weekend for me,.......Thanks for everything Tom.
Wayne.

Tom also forgot to mention that it was blowing 25 to 35 with some pretty good gusts. Was it relay #3 on Saturday where all the record targets were sucked off their target boards half way through the relay??..... It was some kind of freaky blizzard tornado.
What did you end up with on Saturday with your DX, a low 5" i think??
Pretty awesome for the conditions. There were alot of 20+" groups or DQ's

Derek

I am having a 6 Dasher built on a Marlin XS7. Rock Creek 1 in 8, 5R stainless barrel that should finish at 26". Randy Gregory in Medford is setting it up and I will be taking it down there tomorrow. He rebarreled my 12FTR last spring, and it is very accurate. He will be using the same reamer and I should be able to use the same die setup for both. Using Lapua cases and 450.s. I want a knock around rifle that is flat accurate. I chose the Marlin because it does not have a detachable mag and the cases feed well. Barlow
