6 BRA Bullet Selection

Although I did not have a chance to shoot at 600 yards today, I did shoot the 30.6 gr load and the 31.0 of H4895 load at 200 yards. The bright sun, cool air and wind did not give me ice cream conditions but I did shoot a few 3-shot groups. The 30.6 gr./H4895/CCI 400/ Bart's 105 Infinity (.005 off jam) came out as best again. In my 28 inch Brux .236 4-groove with .125 freebore the 30.6 gr. load has shot best at 100, 200, and 600 yards. I shot a .293 " at 200 yards today with that load in some horrendous mirage. I guess the jury is in and I will shoot the 30.6 gr. load in our next match. Thanks for those who have helped with this new (to me) chambering. James

Is this the 30" barrel you were talking about cutting down?
This is the 30 inch barrel that I cut back to 28 inches about two weeks ago. I believe that the balance on the 30 inch barrel was part of the problem with the vertical that I experienced. It seems to be much better at 28 inches. Thanks to you and Bart Sauter who recommended 28 inches. James

Its harmonics, but balance does play a role too. Your tunerless now or did you keep it?
I have been tunerless since cutting the barrel. The 7 oz. tuner was part of the balance problem in my estimation. I had put almost 1 pound of weight in the butt stock, but the 30 inch barrel with tuner was still muzzle heavy. I may be messing up but I am going to try the barrel sans tuner for a few matches and see how it goes. Some folks (like me) may not be smart enough to use tuners. ;)

I think you'll like it
