Hey all, I starting to think about a new barrel for my Savage m12 LRPV. Right now its a 204 ruger and I really like the caliber but the with short barrel life and how much I shoot I'm thinking that its only a matter of time until its time for a new barrel.
This has me thinking about new calibers to try. I'd like something that can reach out to 1000 yards but most of the time my shooting is done within 600 yards. Longer barrel life would also be nice. (2000+ rounds would be nice) Keeping the cost of operation low would be nice. This is just my plinking gun.
The 6.5x47 has my interest right now. Are there many people shooting them? I tried a search and didn't come up with much. What kind of barrel ware are people seeing?
What bolt face does the 6.5x47 use? 308?
Any other calibers worth looking at?
Thanks.
