6.5x47 compared to the 260

Just to add to your problem deciding, if the small primer pocket on the 6.5x47L sounds like a real con for that chambering, well you can always form 260 from the Lapua 308 Palma brass with the small primer pocket.

I'm still on my 1st 260 Imp 30*, but have built myself six 6.5x47s in the last five years. This 260 Imp is a great shooter - excellent accuracy with Berger 140VLDs out well past 1000yds. I run it in precision rifle practical/tactical matches, and have been very pleased with it. Will certainly chamber up another bbl with this reamer when the original Imp bbl is done.

The 1st three 6.5x47s I built were all easy to load for - didn't take much work to get good accuracy out of almost anything I shot through them. However, since then, I've had a couple of picky suckers - one using the same reamer & same top quality custom cut-rifled brand bbl, the other a factory OEM bbl. Neither one of these two bbls would shoot worth a hoot with anything other than 123gr bullets & IMR4007SSC powder. But my latest 6.5x47 - on a Bighorn action w/Krieger bbl & Manners T4A stock - is a pretty good shooter, although it's a bit picky about loads.

I don't think it's possible to post a thread like this one w/o getting a lot of strong opinions on both sides of the argument; personally, I like both cartridges, and there's no way I'm going to badmouth one in favor of the other.
