6.5's Show Them and give particulars

Ryan, I have a couple of questions. What's this stuff about getting married? And what is that white stuff that you're using for a photo backdrop? When I go outside, I see dirt and cactus!

Yep. Getting married this October. She said yes when I asked her on our antelope trip. I'm sick of all this white stuff, lol. Putting up a new big shop along with a new cnc lathe. They're pouring concrete on Monday. Once it's all up my lead time will be 12 weeks or less on custom rifles. I will have all the parts instock for builds. Gonna be a busy year.

Here's my new Savage model 12 Benchrest in 6.5-284.

It's wearing a NightForce SHV 5-20X56X30mm in titanium rings. Shot it yesterday to roughly get the scope adjusted, but tomorrow at Ben Avery will be its 'serious' debut. Also have a new Bald Eagle rest...

...to 'break-in'.

Am taking 18 different loads to shoot.

What contour Bartlein is that???

What is the weight of the rifle???

That's an M24 contour @ 26". Rifle weighs about... oh if I had to guess... 16lbs.

I have a similar rifle in the works, but with a Marksman contour to shed a bit of weight. And I'll have it finished a bit shorter.

CZ 527 with 22 inch 1:8.4 Obermeyer barrel custom contoured in 6.5 Grendel

Finished weight 6lbs one ounce

Accuracy is pretty good at sub half inch with CFE223 and 130gr Berger Hybrids or 129gr Nosler LRABs.

Here's my low budget Savage 10 6.5 Creedmoor build for hunting primarily. Green Mountain blank done by Apache, PTG nut and lug. GRS Berserk stock. I hope to get trigger time tomorrow with the rifle. Other than the barrel, stock, it's basically a stock "rescue" savage I got for $270 as a .308win.

6.5 Creedmoor
6.5creedmoorSavage 001.JPG 6.5creedmoor 001.JPG 6.5creedmoor 002.JPG Here is mine. Just a Short action Savage that I installed a Wilson barrel and put in a Boyds stock. Contoured blank that I threaded and chambered. Seemed to take about 100rnds to smooth out. Tried brass made from 243, but didn't work, so used 22-250 Hornady brass opened up and fireformed.
Hated some 120 ppu bullets and the Nosler 123's I tried, but the 123amax was another story. Hunter powder and a lrm primer worked well!! The 95gr vmax and Varget did even better. Long throat, if I seated to the lands, the Vmax just about fell out of the case neck, only about 0.030" in the neck, so seated about half way down the neck, so probably .100 off the lands. First load I tried with Varget and second load I tried with the Hunter powder and the 123amax. High 2's with the 95vmax and low 3's with the 123amax c-t-c. Best groups I have ever shot. #1 on the 123amax, I was getting ready to shoot and the bill of my hat hit the scope and the gun went off, so I discounted that one!!!
