6.5 RSAUM build questions.

I just completed my build on one based on a single shot Rem 40x just to see if I liked it. Now I want to do one for hunting. I would like to use a butchered Rem 700 that was a wsm, but want to use a detachable mag setup. My questions are will the action feed and whose bottom metal to use and where to get it ? Also if I would use a BDL style from the wsm would it feed? Thank you in advance for any suggestions and feedback.

I've used both Wyatt's BDL extended box and Surgeon DBM for short action based SAUMs and WSMs.
No worries for either, but I much prefer the detach mag. As stated above, Accurate or Alpha AICS based WSM mags are what you'll need...

What is the max COAL on these ?

My 7WSM loads are ~2.950" and 6.5SAUM are ~2.935".
Both run fine from an Accurate mag.

My Alpha 7rd WSM mag allows another .020", or so. I only load 5rds in the 7rder...

Wyatt's CFE-5 box will run 2.975", but you're gonna need to modify the receiver to get that length. And, it won't feed near as nice as a center feed DBM. Moreover, you'll only get 2 chubby WSM/SAUM rds. in the belly...
