6.5 Grendel Bolt Gun

I saw there was not much love for the 22Nosler. I ran across some factory ammo, priced cheaper than brass. A pencil barrel Mini in 223 that was a problem child. Ordered a prefit from Preferred Barrels with their nut in 22 Nosler. Their twist rates offered went from a 1-12 to a 1-8, I went with the 1-8 and now wish I had went with the1-12. I have exceeded RPM’s on a couple and the don’t make it to 100. Still trying to sort out what bullets I can use.

FYI this is in an Oryx chassis. Used the factory 65Grendel magazine with the 22 Nosler. Work fine and feed all of them.

Accuracy with the factory ammo is excellent.
Once again CFE223 has provided higher than listed speeds.
Haven’t shot the 20 PPC yet but in data I’ve read from BR shooters using the cartridge it’s a pretty impressive and extremely accurate little round.

The 22 Nosler was dead at the door because 20 cal is where it’s at these days. If a person wants varmint rifle with more punch and less wind deflection over the various 20s, they usually skip over the 22 cal and go straight to a 6mm round. I have a few 6mm rifles myself for that reason. Been shooting 20 cals since 2005 and I have no desire to own anything in 22 cal

Rem700 Creedmoor and Chas Daly Zastava grendel. both with Hart barrels. Haven't got the stock inletted quite all the way on the grendel, may go back to the wood stock.

I am building a 6.5 Grendel using a Zermatt arms left bolt action, based on a savage action, had a 6.5 Grendel bolt face made, also a Masterpiece Arms Chassis and waiting on the Preferred Barrel Blanks .850 straight taper to arrive with 6.5 Grendel Match Chamber, will it out shoot my ar 15 in 6.5 Grendel, might, might not , but its going to be one bad ass rifle, with barbed wire fluting, and a Nightforce Scope

I built one on a Savage platform using an 26 inch X-caliber blank 1-8 twist, short throated to shoot light weight bullets. I got a PTG bolt head to make it right but set it up as a single shot. I run Speer 90gr TNT's through it using H335 powder and it shoots just a tick over an inch at 300 yds. I had a lot of fun shooting it this summer and would build another in a heatbeat.
Biggest mistake I made was trying to get it to shoot good with Starling brass, never could get the groups I was looking for. Switched to Lapua and BAM there ya go! Waisted a lot of bullets and powder with that brass, never again.
