If I can figure out how to post a pic, I scanned some info from Shooting Times I got the other day.
Looks like it worked. Not many loads, but a start. Back down and work up

Try google... And get yourself a LOT of H870 and H5010 if you can find any.
WC870 is available and, while not canister grade, is reasonably consistent from lot to lot as mil-surp powders go. I have quite a pile of this stuff from three different lots and the chronograph tells me that all three are whisker-close in burn rate.

Grab some of this stuff and a grain scoop to feed the powder funnel.

Just curious...
When is it advisable to mix different lots of same powder designation in order to achieve one consistent quantity?

I've never mixed different lots. I'm sure someone with experience will soon opine. With respect to WC870, I have enough on hand that combining and mixing the three lots would present a logistical problem. I'd need a bath tub.

I would rather work up a new load after going through an 8 pound keg than mix different lots. I wonder what the odds are that you would get a uniform mix in each case...

I set up a Weatherby Mk V AccuMark for a customer in this chambering. He asked me about barrel life. I told him to enjoy the next 500 rounds or so. I can't imagine it lasting much longer, but that's a reasonable life for a hunting rifle.

just dip the case in 870 is what we done with 140smks

Most those old powders were really dirty. I would try RE33 because we are getting
Good velocity and accuracy in everything we tried it in. It gets up to 150 FPS more then other powders on all the guns we tried it in. It does it without as much pressure because it is coated and makes the burn go farther out the barrel. You don't get that quick pressure curve. It also may make the throat last longer. Guys that shot them many years ago at Williamsport had barrels completely burned up in as little as 500 rounds. Complete missing rifling for a few inches. Matt
