Brother your not missing anything.Wish my reliable and finely smithed 1911 was a 10mm. I don't ever carry anything larger then my Gock33 in 357Sig, or my SigP365 in 9mm. So then my attitude is if I'm going to have a full size service pistol sitting in the glove compartment, dresser draw, or hanging from my hip in a holster, it might as well be the more powerful 10mm instead of a .45cal!! And if factory 10mm ammo is too powerful or uncomfortable to shoot, that's not an issue for a handloader like myself.
Ive wanted a 10mm for years. Wife says no everytime I ask. Probably go Glock, even though I really like Springfield XD's. One day. Ive never been a 45 fan, id rather have a few more bullets in the mag...
How knowledgeable is she about guns? What about math?
You can always try slipping one into the collection and tell her that 10mm is simply the European / metric designation of .45.
I hope this works out for you.
Just trying to help.
To paraphrase: that 10mm might expand, but my 45 ain't gonna shrink...
I have both from the Colt custom shop. While I love the ten and would use it for hunting/target, the 45 is the go to for defense. It all depends on how you plan to use it.View attachment 1169030
I don't understand this. If you could choose either of your identical size and configuration Colt 1911's that you show in your photo, then why would you choose the lesser energy .45 cartridge for defense? Personally, my believing that the first shot matters, I'd carry the 44mag if it were made in a 1911. If you were to answer that faster recovery of aim and control as the reason, then one might better be off with the higher capacity 9mm altogether, as so many have gravitated to.
I want a 10mm too, I'm leaning toward the Delta Elite. Was looking at the Ruger until I saw they were having some issues. Anyone have input on the Colt?
that's a snappy round, that .41 magBrother your not missing anything.
If ya want more power get a Ruger Blackhawk in a 41 magnum
