The 40sw and 45acp cases can take very high pressures. The 10mm with large primer pocket and deep extractor groove cannot take high pressure. The primer pocket grows, the primers fall out and the 10mm work up stops, while the 40sw and 45 acp go higher and higher and higher until the recoil requires slide mass and recoil springs that are not practical.
