I interpreted the OP’s question as the accuracy capabilities of a custom barreled .308.Nice shootin
Most can’t do that with a stock/ factory Varmint rifle.

Loaded a few 175 SMK's over RE15 today . Had great accuracy and low ES around 2550 fps . Going to tune a little more and try to shoot 600 tomorrow . I loaded up to 2670 but was getting pressure signs .
not, imho
i have a heavy bbl SAVAGE that shoots 185's 1/2 moa at 6009 AS INSIDE the 600 x ring.
expectations should be higher with a rem and a quality bbl.
I bet you got a savage 6.5 creedmoore that shoots 2 inches at 1000 too.
I own no such thing. I do shoot 600/1000 br, but not with a 308 win and never with a savage 10. just because you can't do something, does not mean it cannot be done. I guess I should have got my target pullers name and phone number, ben avery 600 Thursday practice.
IMHO ; To answer the OP's question , I would think that 60 - 75% of ten to twenty rounds in the 10 - ring would be exceptional , as I've seen folks have trouble keeping rounds inside the 9 - ring with custom built FTR guns on any given day .... The question was kind of generic , and we are all putting out answers like the OP is a hard-core HM competitor . A little realism goes a long way , sometimes .
with good barrel and skills 1.2 to 3 inches my brother took my 308 and shot 4 shots in .860 the 5th took it too 1.3..then I took it and shot a 3.3 group then a 4 inch group then I quit...he's just better than me...at 500yds my little home rangeI have a 600yd range at home that we have family & friends matches . I bought a 700 308 Varmint and put it in a good stock and replaced the trigger . Rifle shoots great out to about 300 yds . Thinking about getting the action trued and a rebarrel . My question is what are realistic groups at 600yds with a 308 ? Not the once in awhile 3 shot amazing group but the average 5 shot groups shooting in good conditions .
Thanks Chris
Ok I have to ask,... whats a wallet pop??How bout 10 shots at 600 , are ya still .5 Moa ?
I’d like to see those easy targets and not just a wallet pop,
I’ve shot quite a bit of 600 with my 308 my best is around 4 inches 91 points
Got it! I know people that actually have those, like the guy that carries the playing card he split in half but don't tell how many shots or at what distance.Oh I was referring to that once in a hundred wallet photo, ya “pop” out fer braggin rights.
You took my comment and explained it to the next level . And better than I did . Thanks for clarifying my point . I also believe that assessing a rifles accuracy requires more than a 3 or 4 shot group . Three shots or four shots tell you nothing at 600 yards , unless you are a skilled shooter . And even a blind pig finds a acorn once in a while .I've come to think of a 20 shot score on an F-Class target face as a more meaningful assessment of rifle accuracy than "group size." The 10 ring is a 1 MOA circle, and the X ring is a 0.5 MOA circle. So, a 200-20x is all 20 shots in a 0.5 MOA circle, etc. I haven't seen many of those in F-TR. But there is plenty of match data out there to for comparison purposes.
Here's a result scoresheet from a local F-Class match under typical conditions. There are some very talented shooters and very nice rifles represented here.

But notice, even among the F-Open rifles, there are no 200s, much less 200-20x. That's real life with a bit of wind. The highest F-TR score is a 196-9x. That works out to be 16 of 20 shots in a 1 MOA circle and 9 of 20 shots in a 0.5 MOA circle. Do that, and you're having a pretty good day with a pretty good rifle.
