300 wsm 185 Juggernaut

Fired 103 rds today on a new WSM barrel to break it in and put the first firing on the brass. Used 62.0 gr of R23, BR2 primers and the Juggs jammed .017. Velocity was 2940-2960 as was warmer than I expected for the 1st firing on the Norma brass. No pressure signs but I was hoping to be 100fps slower.

That does seem pretty fast. But I don’t think it would hurt the brass for first firing. Lots of guys run 63-64 with 215’s in BR. Let us know how she does. I’m with you, that I like to hit the bras easy first time through while breaking in the barrel.

Does seem fast but whats barrel length? I ran as high as 68.5 gr re23 with berger 180’s which was hot and gave 3068 fps in a 24”. 65.5 gr with 208 at 2860’s

At least with rl 16 they have a nice jump node. .011-.017 agged 1.2". This is 600yds. I would not worry about pulling bullets with a light jam. I had a 280ai that i jammed .020. Killed 4 elk with it never had an issue. You just have to understand your equipment.View attachment 1421476

About 10 yrs ago when I was shooting the 185s in F-TR I did a seating depth test. From .009 to something like .080 I couldn’t tell the difference so I quit. Gun would hold .3 MOA, and that is plenty for about anything other than BR. Loaded them at .015 ish and shot them.

I am running 2980 with 200 Hybrids in a 300 SAUM IMP with H4350, as well as 2900 with 215s. I also got 215s to 2900 in a 300 WSM. Both 30" BR barrels. I'd think Juggs would go faster with no issue.......

Well the jump node shot good today and very consistent. 2990-3000 fps in 24” barrel.

I'll test 62..8-64.0 in .2 increments to see where it is the happiest.

Jet, not sure if you have tried CCI250’s, but they shot best with 16 for myself, Alex, and Tom. But it’s looking like 210’s are going to work well for you.

Thanks but I don't have any. I did try the BR2s and they didn't shoot as small.

Conditions have been lousy to test in so don't have a lot of useful data. I did test the 250s against the 210M and the 210M shot a bit smaller.

Haven't shot it. It's already loaded for when I get a chance to go to DC. I'll post results when I get them.
