185 juggernaut @ 2.800”?

I bought a bunch of 185 juggernaut bullets when I thought I was going to play long range with a M1A. That little experiment lead to a Palma rifle and an Any rifle.

So now I have a bunch of these bullets with no real good use. I’m thinking about loading a bunch with 39 to 40 grains of Varget at mag length and add them to a SHTF stash.

When I used them for LR, my OAL was 2.910” with a .020” jump as I was single loading.

My question is: Anyone ever shoot this bullet loaded that deep (2.800”) or with that much jump? Sound ok?

I’ll take them off your hands for the right price ;)

I would be concerned about the length of the bullet and the amount of powder you will be able to load at 2.800 COAL.

I use nothing but Juggernauts and if you can make them work they would be a great round. I could not get mine to perform at less than 43 gr of Varget, but that is at 500 yards, and I don't think you will be able to get the bullet seated without compressing the powder at that load.

If you do decide to sell them instead, I would be interested in them.

The 185 juggernaut at 2.800 with 38.6 of varget worked pretty nice! Just a follow up.
As long as you keep the load sane they will work great. One of my first F-TR barrels got chambered with a short freebore. I don't remember now but they definitely fit into a factory R700 internal mag. In any case my load was just over 43gr of varget. At a state championship match the ammo sat in the sun between relays, blew two or three primers in large primer brass in the beginning of next match.

As long as you keep to published loads you'll be great. Jugg may be the easiest to get shooting bullet ever designed.

I'd be interested to know how well they do in an Improved 30-280AI? Say 3.33" instead of 2.8...
Isn't that a 30-06 AI?

EDIT: If it's got a 308 bore it should shoot the Juggs, esp something like you are describing there. You are only going to get 150 FPS or so more than most F-TR shooters ran them (high 2700s to 2800+) and probably not much more than some of the more reckless ran them (I've heard reports of up to 2900). It is an awesome bullet design.
