300 PRC load data

Mine is 29" my buddies is 28"
We're both using H1000 mine is a Krieger his is a K&P. I'm running 215s, he's running 220s. I'm at 3000, he's around 2975 I believe. Just confirmed out to 1650 this morning.

The next combo I tried was H1000 and 230 Berger hybrids .020 off.
77-2907
77-2901
77.4-2923
77.8-2946
78.6-2950
79-2958
79.4-2971
79.8-3002
80.2-3000
80.6-3036
This ladder looked great, 2 obvious nodes, 2901-2923 held .658" of vertical at 600yds, 2971-3002 held .714".
I'm late to the party. Again. Can you please explain why you picked 2901-2923 (instead of 2907-2901) and 2971-3002 (instead of 3002-3000)?

Alex, do you by chance have any N570 to try with those 230's? What is you OAL at 20 off with the 230's?
I'm getting the best velocity and accuracy from my 30 SM with 570. Not a 300 PRC but basically an improved PRC. Tried H1000, Retumbo and a few others and all did well accuracy wise but the 570 was the overall winner in all areas.

I just put together one with a 30" Hart barrel for a guy. I tried N570 because I had some that my 300 Norma Improved likes. Best I could get was 5/8 - 3/4 groups shooting 245 Berger's in an 8 twist. Looked the gun over a bunch and even put a different scope on it and same results. Switched to H1000 and she started stacking them almost on top of each other. 81gr of H1000 @.020 off the lands is getting me 2970 fps.
Are you referring to a 300 Norma Improved at 2970 fps with the 245 gr Berger or a 300 PRc?

300 PRC, those were definitely a spicy load and was pretty hard on the brass. I believe he has since backed off to a lower node now.

Next was the ladder test with N570. No pressure signs with any of these loads. Of course work your way up if you try my loads.

I'm going to experiment with 82.3 - 82.9.

1. 79.9 - 2923
2. 80.2 - 2919
3. 80.5 - 2909
4. 80.8 - 2920
5. 81.1 - 2946
6. 81.4 - 2957
7. 81.7 - 2978
8. 82.0 - 2984
9. 82.3 - 3002
10. 82.6 - 3006
Hello. Was your chamber cut with a saami reamer?

Thanks

I always appreciate these threads, thanks Alex! I have a guide friend who had a client show up on an antelope hunt last week with a Fierce 300 PRC. Making a long story short he missed a very big speed goat multiple times at ranges that were between 210 and 490 yards.

I live close to the hunt unit they were hunting in and my guide friend called me and asked if I had a rifle they could borrow, which I did and they went out and filled the tag next day with the 6.5 PRC I lent them. He asked if I would work with the Fierce and see if it’s the optic or the rifle, it printed a 2 MOA group at 90 yards so that’s what I’m doing.

I cleaned it up last night, pulled the scope and remounted it, all eight scope ring screws varied greatly with torque values, scope reticle wasn't plumb/level, action screws weren’t properly torqued and the barrel was in need of a long cleaning session. After doing that I ordered some Lapua brass and will use some Berger 230 Hybrids and see if the rifle will shoot. So this thread will save me some time, at least I hope it does.

I’ll start with Lapua brass, CCI 250s, 230 hybrids and N570. The hunter was embarrassed but grateful to use my rifle. Seems like a nice guy. Yes, he should have had that all figured out but he’s fairly new to hunting and needs someone to spend some time with him which I’m glad to do. Maybe it’s an opportunity to teach him a few things that will help him be successful in the future. That’s how I look at it anyways.

I want to say 82.3 grains. I did need a drop tube. Work up to that load. It was warm. That was ADG so I dont know how different Lapua will be.
