300 Norma Improved 35 degree

B
Not only seeing, listening at certain distance a weird noise that is not normal like a squish or different sound ....just telling I preffer to switch to 245 s or maybe 230 solids
Bergers are great. Yes it's unfortunate that hornady doesn't fix that

To answer the questions about freebore, theres a ton of .30 bullets out there. I have not tried all of them. My favorites are the 230 and 245 Berger. I tend to like long freebores so thats how I spec my reamers. All you have to do is seat the bullet of your choice to where you want it in a 300 norma case and send that dummy round to JGS to measure it. Just tell them to put that freebore length on my reamer and your good to go.

Anyone running n568 in the norma improved? Burns a little cooler than n565 and n570. I used it a little in past in a 30 nosler

Does anybody expirienced 250 s A Tips at certain distance screammig sound ? Having this issue and unable to hit 1000 beyond in hot weather ? 1-8 twist ... getting not confidence on using them , thanks

Not the 250 a-tip but seen other hornady bullets blow up specially the 180 eldm. Hot weather really brings it out. Hornady has softer jackets. Sniperhide has a ton of threads on it. A few years ago at the nightforce there were alot of people having that issue it was hot.

@GlennK Shot them at the 2k match and they made it no problem. That was a 9 twist probably and cool weather.
Thank you..... we had 2 rifles 1-8 & 1-9 twist, heard that scream with mines at 30 celsius 1-8 , will definetly switch to 245s or even 215 s , 215 s never dissapoint me before but my barrel will burn out fast, maybe a set back and shorten barrel will help , now season is over ... happy holidays for all of you guys and thank you Alex for your help

I finally got out to fireform some cases. I used n565 83 grains berger 220. Velocity was 3043 avg in a 29 inch barrel hawkhill. Shot pretty dang good and can't wait to see what it will do once there formed.

Would I be better suited lowering my fireforming load down a few grains. I see the berger 220 and n565 max was 86 grains

What is your favorite bullet in the 300ni for targets that you seen?
Also what barrel and twist?
I know you build a lot and have alot of data figured I'd ask your opinion.

Also thank you for what you do for the community on reamers and helping!!

Yes I did. N568 is too slow for good speeds. My improved case capacity is 113gr of H2O and I can't even compress enough N568 in there to get it within100 fps of N570 speeds using non-compressed loads. Its not even close really. Dont get me wrong, N568 can work with heavier bullets, but just don't expect to see the fast speeds this improved NMI case was designed to produce.

Originally N568 was announced as being a short-cut version of N570, but when they released it, they changed it completely. 568 is so much slower than 570, it's hard to even test them together. Really wish 568 would have been released as a short 570 because that would have made metering much better with 570.

Are you using a drop tube with N568? I used a 10" drop tube and poured slow. My N568 load was about 50 fps slower than the N570 load but had less throat erosion. Without the drop tube that charge would have been up the neck. Not a hot load.

Question and help ....I bought by error 245 s elite hunters, how they compared with 245 s target, my main use is LR shoots, I do not hunt by the moment , wanting to change my game from 250 s thanks

Have you contacted Hornady?
My first thought would be more of a barrel issue than a bullet issue, as even the 300 NMI isn't likely spinning fast enough to cause jacket issues.

Hornady is aware of issue but ignores it. Blames everything but the bullets. There are threads on other forms that talk about it. I had issues talked with them and really nothing. Hornady is hard to deal with
