I shoot the 153.5 at 2810 which is my low node. Can run them over 2900 but no need to.How does a 260AI compare with 6.5PRC with the heavies like the 153.5gr Berger?

I presume you'd need a LA to run them out of a magazine?I shoot the 153.5 at 2810 which is my low node. Can run them over 2900 but no need to.
I've fire formed 60 rounds playing with just seating depths with 42gr of H4350. So far 20 off with 142 SMK Has been my best load. It's shooting 1.1-1.3" groups at 300yds. I have a range here at my house. I have not shot any of my Berger 140 or 144 Hybirds yet I was actually waiting till I get my brass formed because I have a good supply of the MK's. BTW I hate new brass with no carbon in the necks and neck tension being inconsistent so I'm thinking with some fired brass I'm going to like it! Thx for checking in with me!Any news on the new build?

Should be fairly easy to get those speeds out of either one of those bullets with H-4350.That sounds about right, shooting 0.3-0.4 moa fire forming is pretty standard for the 260AI! Sounds like you're well on your way. Any of those 3 bullets running 2950-2975fps will likely be your best load. Somewhere right around 45gr of H4350. What brass are you using?
I like to keep the information fairly fresh and constant in this thread as many people seem to come through and check on it. At my club there are several of us shooting 260AI for F/open long range and many of them have told me about bits they've read in this thread.
Mike, I fair really well with the Peterson SRP brass with mine. Not much difference in load data for the swap from LRP to SRP brass.Lapua 260 Brass. Brother I've read till my eyes have about crossed on everything I can dig up on the 260AI. I've seen several use 308 Palma brass but what I decided to do is see how 100pcs of the parent case worked and then decide if I need to go to the Palma Small rifle primer route? I'm cool with 2925-2950 with a 140-144 if this Brass will get me there with the accuracy I want? Also my firing pin has been bushed and turned down so SRP is not a issue for me! You tell me?
Thanks Bill. I've not shot any H4831 in the FF loads. I know it's a little slower but this gun has a 28"'barrel so it may also be the ticket. I'm not one to get wrapped up,in speed because all I care about is small groups at the distance I'm shooting! YES I would love 2950-2980 with my accuracy but I will shoot it at the speed it likes. Now I'm not shooting it 2800 LOLMike, I fair really well with the Peterson SRP brass with mine. Not much difference in load data for the swap from LRP to SRP brass.
H-4831 is a winner with the 140 -144 gr class bullets as well as H-4350. 47.5 gr. with a CCI 450 primer gives me @ 2948 fps with a 26 inch barrel. 5 shots @ 100 yds. normally with give me .250 inch groups consistently. Thanks Bill. Thanks. After you and Bill both saying the Peterson SRP brass shoot as good or better than anything. I'm going to just go ahead and grab a box and FF them so I will have both to choose from. I'm retired but help a Custom rifle builder so I'm not worried about FFing extra shots on my barrel so I'm getting me some Peterson ordered tonight. You guys have gave me solid info to work with with the 260ai this is my first one and I already like how it shoots forming brass! I feel like after its annealed and I get to actually set my neck tension it going to do well!I also use Peterson 260srp brass and dropped a couple tenths when I switched from Lapua because of case capacity. I'm currently on 10-11 firings of the same batch and primer pockets are just ever so slightly looser, but still good.
Regarding velocity, the range I quoted is where most of us end up with 26"+ barrels and not beating the brass really hard. Since I switched to the 153.5 Berger for F/open, I decided to run the low node and use the ridiculous BC of the bullet just because I can. I run them at 2810fps from a 30" Kreiger. The 140s running fast shoot very well. Dial in about 28moa and go to 1K no problem!
These velocities are where best accuracy was found, not tuning for the velocity.
Glad to be able to help. I believe you will be well pleased with the 260AI. It has all the right stuff to make a rifle shoot fantastic. I would not want to be without mine when getting out to shoot long range.Thanks. After you and Bill both saying the Peterson SRP brass shoot as good or better than anything. Finally got my 260AI barreled action in from Old Dominion/ @WSMNUT . He screwed one of @Bill Norris 's tube that only had a couple hundred rounds through it. Got to pick up a suitable stock for it and replicate Bills success with it.
Just found out that my action is in. You guy's are killing me. Need to head to Zach's for a 260AI and the 30BR.
Haven't seen a range report yet, get that gun going?
Cant wait to see it in that new stock and up and running . Always happy to lend a hand anytime.Yes and no. It's @Bill Norris old barrel so I know what it'll do. We tossed in a magpul hunter stock but it's not a good for for riding bags or trying to get great accuracy. We put a few .3" groups up at 100 and a 5" 700yd group but with the limitations of the stock I decided to wait for a better ride before wasting more components. It'll be going soon enough. I have so many projects that Bills had is spinning with mine
