Agreed. They just simply amazed me. Never knew where the next shot was going to land. Last time I shot them I was HM at mid range, was expecting a podium finish as there were only two other HM shooters there. Well, a 7, 6, and several 8's and 9's later i was at the bottom of the pack.

At 300 and in, couldn't see the flier in the data. I wish you good luck! I'd love to see someone shoot them well in recent times.

Understand your point. As I've said I haven't experienced it yet, hopefully I won't. But will be aware of it. Just I've seen at our club people blame the targets or other reasons because they drop points because they don't want to admit their rifles aren't lasers and wind can have an affect on stuff.

Some different bullets will measure .0005 more or less

I turn necks for .004" clearance. The cutter barely touches Lapua and Peterson is a light cut. That's worked well for me.

My lot of Peterson (several years old, 2017 or so) was .2940" to .2945" prior to turning. The cut, on average, was pretty thin and it cleaned up pretty consistently.

Well I'm in! Just got my 260AI put together this week. Great read on this thread and lots of good information. I'm going to start with H4831 and have plenty of it and H4350. The gun has a 28" Brux 7.5" on a trued Remington I had laying around in a Manners T2A.

A good barrel will play well with either of those powders.

You've been very informative in this thread Bill along with others! Thanks to all of you. This is my first 260AI. I've been a Dasher 6BR 6 and 6.5X47 also a straight 260 Shooter for years but wanted to try the AI.

A 260ai has risen up at the Penn 1000yd last match won a relay with a 6.9 group then finished 2nd overall in group...lot of good shooting at match 4 at PA 1000yd

I misread it was 6.9 group that won the relay buy still good shooting with a 2nd in the shootoff at 6.6 I think my eyes wonder alot

Shot a team fired/scored fun match yesterday with my dad. He shot his 260 and I shot the 260AI. Some very difficult targets, 40 shots for record per shooter, on a silhouette range. Targets like a 1" wide, 9" tall steel at 300m, golf balls at all lines, 2" tall by 7" wide steel, a 3" tall "middle finger" cut out at 500m, and you also shoot multiple distances back and forth in the course of fire. Bipod or sand bag front rest only, rear bag is fine. Most targets are well under 1/2 moa total size and some with less than a 1/4 moa allowable error.

We shot a combined score of 36/80. And took second place over all! Its a very difficult match and a lot of fun! Winds were 8-12kts, switching left right head winds.

Golf ball at 500m was my final target of the day.

You'll thoroughly enjoy it! Since you shoot 260 already you should already have an idea of what components will work out for you and intended purpose.

Quick tip: do a seating depth test while fire forming brass. It will get you very close to where you want to be with formed and you won't need to do as much testing with formed brass.

Never been heavier than 144 gr. and the M V is all over 3000 FPS with H-4350.
