260 at 600 yards

I use Nosler 140 partitions in mine for deer. Never more than one shot, and they don't go far.
My buddy loads Nosler 125's in his, says he gets right at 3000 fps, mine go about 2650-2700.
I haven't actually chrono'd either one, but i also wouldn't feel "undergunned" with either one, i've seen them both "work."

Haven't shot RL26 in my 260 w/139s but I'd guess the 2950ish is easily doable with accuracy. H4831sc makes 2860 for me but the RL26 I hear is getting 100fps more.

I've been invited to shoot steel at 600 yards. I'm probably going to take the 260 I screwed together a few years ago, Savage action, 24" Shilen Select match, varmint contour with a 1-9" twist, my deer rifle.

I'm considering Nosler Custom Competition 123 grain bullets. Anyone ran them in a 260?

Thanks.
I've shot Sierra 123 MKs for years at 300 and 600yd for Across the course. Unless the wind is really howling or swtiching quick I haven't seen the need for my 142s. Now the Nosler 123 has a slightly lower BC but that is what I'm going to next as Sierra's have gotten really expensive. I'm shooting in a 260 AR10 with a 28" barrel.

Care to share load info? I have a 260 Spacegun I've been trying to get dialed in

Thanks guys. I've ordered a couple boxes of 123gr Sierra MK's to try. If I'm not happy I'll order some 130's.
I think the 123s will serve you well at 600 if for some reason they don't try the 130SMK or the Berger 130OTMs. I've had excellent results with both of these bullets in my 260s. I think with the 1/9" any of these will be great. My 260s are 1/8" and I can shoot the 142SMKs really good also.

130 ELD-M can make it to one mile from a .260
Not that it's easy, but possible.

This is not going to be a serious endeavor; my buddies shoot it just for fun and invited me to tag along. I built this rifle along with the 22-250 on Savage LH actions, both have Shilen 24" SS Select Match barrels. For the 260 I chose the 9" twist to shoot 120gr and lighter bullets for deer and coyotes. It averages under 1/2" ctc at 100 yards with Sierra 120gr Pro Hunters.

130s will work well along with a 140 class bullet.

My go to is H4350 and a 142 SMK

Hunting load is the same powder and a 142 ABLR

Both loads are quite accurate to 600 and beyond.

The 130 Hornady's surprised me with good performance in my Tikka factory rifle 20in/8 and also in my Ruger Precision fun gun. Haven't tried them in the other 6.5's, usually use either 139 Lapua's or 142 SMK.
