I did a search last week. Lost my notes and searched again. I can't find the same info I found last week. Especially the " @snert" load. Please help! Thanks!

I really like 748 in mine, Super accurate and burns clean.

Cheers.

P. S.
I use 26gr in mine and run right at 223 pressure, works a treat on varmints.

N133, 23.5 gr 52 gr Barts FBHP match. CCI BR-4 primer. Lapua .223 match brass. Bullets seated to touch lands. Shoots in the ones in my custom bolt gun @ 100 yards. Shoots into .5 in my 16" AR @ 100 yards.

I use w748 for plinking loads in my AR. 25 gr in Starline brass. Nosler 55 gr balistic tip
CCI SRP.

Thanks guys! I have at least 3 lbs. of every powder mentioned. I also have H335, 8208, lt32, H4895 and rl 15.
For bullets, I have:
Sierra 53 grain HP
Speer TNT 50
Hornady 52 grain BT Amax. I'm digging thru my boxes for some 35 grain Hornadys that I "know?" I packed.
i only have Bergers in 80 grain. Too heavy!

I've been " called to the carpet". My cousin has an old Remington 700 in 222 that he uses for Turkey hunting. I mentioned over dinner how I reload to get better accuracy in my guns. He stopped over and dropped off the gun.
Now I have to produce!;)

This is a test target that came with a 40x from Remington. Note powder, bullet & charge. I would assume the 4895 would be IMR. Also, I have no way to know how old this data is, and powder formulations seem to have changed somewhat.

Best of luck, Peter.

I suggest the sierra 53gr hpfb over some benchmark, have had good luck with that combo in an ol 788 Remington...Touch are a very light jam on bullet seating, works for me in that rifle.Good luck and guess you know its a forum rule you have to follow up with your results;););)

My gunsmith gave me that 4895 load many yrs ago but I could always do better with IMR 4198. Lately I've been using AA T32 which is VERY close to H322. Jimmy Craig said the 4895 load was Mike Walker's go to load in Remington's custom shop for the 40x. We always used 52 gr Sierra HPBTs I personally always had better luck with them than the 53 gr.
Surely some of you older guys know Jimmy, he was an early benchrest shooter and his wife is LeeAnn from Owensburg IN. They both shot 788s in .222 or a variant. He still shoots but mainly bigger stuff. He closed the shop probably 10 yrs ago.

19.5 IMR 4198, Fed GM, 52 grain MK or 52 Berger. (target)

BM and 50 gr TNT or IMR 4198 and sierra blitz (hunting)

H322, FGM SR, 52 gr Berger. (target)

I stick to published loads that are below max velocity. I use CCI 400 hunting, FGM for target

enjoy
