I have an update. I tried H335 (have a lot of it)with the Sierra 53 BTHP touching the lands. The old 4 power scope made it hard to see the bull, forget the holes so I just shot them all . I saw a little hope with 23.2 grains.

I loaded up 50 rounds with 23.2. Then I talked my cousin into letting me replace the scope. He agreed, so I mounted a 20 MOA rail and a Nikon 3-18.
I figured I might ned a back up gun so I loaded some 223 test rounds for my Remington 5r with H335 and 69 Sierras at touch to the lands.
The next trip to the range, I shot those and found that 23.2 grains was best for that one, too! Huh!

I loaded up 100 rounds of the 223, called my cousin and went back to the range. After I got the new scope lined up, I shot 5 rounds at the x using a front rest and rear bag. I handed the gun to my cousin and he shot 6 rounds at the 8 on the right using his shoulder and the front rest.(he’s 85) The benches are portable and wobble a bit.
I pulled out my 223 and shot 5 rounds at the 8 on the left with my front rest and rear bag. I figure we’re ready!
Tomorrow we’re going to his “turkey stand” to try head shots on wild turkeys.
Wish us luck!
