Nice what ammo?Today's effort..
5 shot groups at 50yds with my CZ452 and eley match.the top target has 2 pen marks too aim at but they look almost like bullets holes. Right too left wind. View attachment 1405018

A 3.3" good. With 3 moa of wind, did you have horizontal spread in your group.I've been stretching the ranges with my 22lr for a bit fun and the furthest I've shot at is 250yds..
What size 5 shot groups would be considered a good size in good conditions...?
Sunday I shot a group 3.3 inches with 3 minutes of wind on..
I use a CZ452 with eley match that can shoot nice small 5 shot groups..

Eley matchNice what ammo?
Erik's tuners work nicelyA 3.3" good. With 3 moa of wind, did you have horizontal spread in your group.
I run a long range 22 Lr steel match. We shoot steel knockdowns out to 400yds. CZ's do very well. They have won the match with Vudoo's and RimX at the match.
Just keep shooting and keep push out in yardage. When go to longer ranges, it all about the ammo and the shooter knowing how to shoot in the wind.
I shoot my group long range on steel gongs. I mostly shoot our target setup. I am playing with EC V2 tuners on my Bergara's they are working great so far.

I tried eley club and they were pretty good but not a patch on eley match.Try some eley club and center X. Those 2 shot best in my 457
I was testing some Eley in the last week and one lot was pretty consistently good and I wondered why I hadn’t been excited about it in the first test session. Then I had an FTF. Checked the box and found an FTF shell I saved from the first session because it took 4 strikes to fire. So yeah, it pays to be picky and use up every test round you can.Key word there, repeatable.
During lot testing at Lapua my rifle shot a group that the tester said was the best he'd ever seen, but then with the same ammo it never came close again. I asked how that had happened and he replied, 'magic bullets'. He just grabbed the right 10 bullets.
then is there any point in having them lot test for you?Key word there, repeatable.

Only if good test results are repeatable and not a one-off.then is there any point in having them lot test for you?
I could try a few shops and see if they have the lot that shoots great..then is there any point in having them lot test for you?
Can you pay the shop to hold the balance of a good lot?I could try a few shops and see if they have the lot that shoots great..
I'd be happy too buy a couple of thousand..
The limit is what you can buy at one time..
You could say you shot them all and bought another 1000 a day or 2 later but nowadays the problem with that is your ammo you bought is entered on the police's website aswell as on you FAC I think.
You gotta show your FAC to buy the ammo in the first place..
MaybeCan you pay the shop to hold the balance of a good lot?

Legally yes, but you need to find a shop/RFD with an Eley account that will hold 4K+ without payment for an extended period. Can you pay the shop to hold the balance of a good lot?

How many "lots" does an ammo manufacturer make in a day, a week, or a month~? If you find a "lot" that performs particularly well in your rifle, how would you go about finding and purchasing more of the same "lot"~?Thanks..
I was beginning too wonder that..!!
I found for myself how ammo varies but the more expensive ammo tends too shoot better..
I've shot several lots of eley match and they've all been good..
Still yet too try some lapua..
R50 didn't shoot anywhere near as good as eley match.
Gonna have too bite the bullet and try an LRP..
