2015 F-Class Mid-Range & Long Range Nationals

DE-F-Open

Gold $$ Contributor
The dates for the NRA's F-Class Mid-Range and Long Range National Championships to be held at the Ben Avery Range in Phoenix have been approved and announced. A copy of the program is attached.

F-Class Mid-Range Nationals Individual Matches will be run on October 24th, 25th & 26th with Team Matches on October 27th. A Mid-Range Championship Awards Banquet will be held that night, as well.
It isn't clear from the Program but it looks like October 23rd will probably be a Mid-Range Practice Day.

Long Range Practice will be held on the afternoon of October 27th following the Mid-Range Team Matches.

Long Range Individual Matches will be fired on October 28th, 29th and 31st, with Long Range Team Matches fired on October 30th.

A Long Range Championship Awards Banquet will be held the evening of October 31st.

A copy of the Program is attached.

Hope to see you there,

John

Looks like both the mid-range and long-range have been combined into just one week of shooting, sucking up only 5 days of vacation: NICE!

Absolutely. Well, it's still 9 for me but it does look like a light came on somewhere.
9 is better -n 15

Thanks to whomever.

John,

I seem to recall hearing something about a "super aggregate" of the scores from the MRNC and LRNC.

Am I hallucinating? :o

Thanks,

Taking a day off of both ends from the tentative dates a from a few months ago does make the idea of shooting both more of an option.

Warren,

A super-agg would be great, but I don't see anything in the program... I wonder if a major sponsor might be interested ???

As to whether you were hallucinating.... don't know, don't remember anything definitive on that.... to quote a certain female presidential candidate: "I have no current recollection of those facts at this time..."

Maybe Mid might know.....

Hi Matt,

The one question beyond "the sponsor question" is what about those who shoot F-T/R in Mid-Range and F-Open in Long Range, or visa versa? Does that cause a problem when you combine F-T/R & Open scores into the super-agg?

What happens when the "super-agg" winner is not the winner of either the Mid-Range National Championship or the Long Range National Championship - would the "super-agg" cause confusion in that respect - better yet, the shooter wins one but not the other and then wins the "super-agg".... who's the champ of what?

Given my abilities, I have no worries in that regard, but I am sure there are those who do worry about such things.....

Like you and Warren, I like the idea... the more the merrier - but there are questions to be answered, I suppose... hmmm

John

Just thinking:
Competitor A wins MR
Competitor B wins LR
Competitor C wins super agg

A = U.S. Midrange Champion
B = U.S. Long Range Champion
C = U.S. F-Class Champion.

Use this equation for various other permutations.

Highest total aggregate of individual scores from the midrange and longrange determines the F-Open or F-T/R super aggregate championship score. Award accordingly.

I don't believe that combining Open and T/R scores would work. Just have an award for Open and one for T/R.

It is entirely conceivable that a shooter that didn't win either mid or long range could win the super aggregate. That would be an interesting turn of events. ::)

Yes it is very possible. IBS has something similar with overall and it do happen. I have the plaque. With most shooters switching rifles , you will have new leaders. It sounds like a great motivator for attendance!!

You nailed it....and it would work even when the 2 nationals separate, as I am sure they will at some point.

John...what say you?

Precisely!

Then add to that the possibility that the person that won one event did not even shoot the other event. There are several people I know that will only be shooting one of the two events due to time off from work or other commitments. I do not like the idea.

I see no reason why the above format wouldn't work. If a competitor doesn't shoot in the same discipline for both events, or doesn't shoot in both matches, sorry for your bad luck. Why penalize the shooters that make the trip and shoot both matches just because it doesn't accommodate everyone. What's next? Handing out participation medals and buying everybody a slurpee when the last shot is fired? This isn't Little League.

You're ignoring Denys' First and Second Rules for winning matches:
Rule #1: Show up with your equipment.
Rule #2: Finish the match.
